If you could have your choice of any production model car or truck from any year in brand new condition and price was not a factor, maybe even consider it as a free gift, what would you choose? A 60's muscle car? A new European super car? Maybe a classic pickup truck from the 1950's?  Or a brand new 2021 pickup truck?

Why did you choose what you did?

For me, I would want something like this 1972 Ford 4x4
https://cdn.dealeraccelerate.com/worldwide/1/4918/295410/1920x1440/w/1972-ford-f250-highboy

I chose this pickup truck because I wasn't old enough to have one when they were in production and have been driving well used and abused versions of them for most of my life.  Low ground clearance sports or performance cars may be fun, but do not fit well into my lifestyle. Many would not make it up my gravel driveway.

It's over 30 years old now, and no less awesome than it was the day it was introduced. Awesome car.

I'd want my 92 Wrangler again
4.0 auto, no air, no p/s, no carpet.

The only change would be adding an LSD rear.

Mine looked like this, except I added a cheesy stainless "racing" bumper with the holes

-Nothing with points
-Nothing that has too many vacuum operated components
-Nothing with problematic paint
-Nothing already corroding on the lot
-Nothing without a shroud of airbags, etc al...
-Nothing with any exotic hardware that lacks the corresponding debugged software to manage it
-Absolutely no rattle traps

Ah, screw it, just give me something modern with a nice interior that can cart me around.

After last Thursday where I had to push my 1974 Yamaha home two miles and an entire summer of helping people with projects that are sitting because no one can find parts or even get the ones they found shipped, this is about the worst time to ask me if I want another classic car.

I could really use a truck, I've been planning for awhile that this would have been the year but so much for that happening. It's the boring option I know, but I don't want to sell anything currently to buy one.

That’s be tough. Assuming I’d have to pay to insure it and maintain it.

Either a 79 series lane cruiser 4 door with flat bed diesel.

Or a r34 skyline gtr z tune

Here's a side question.

What do big manufactures do with the tooling and stamps after they become obsolete? Do they just scrap them, or do they warehouse them?

A Singer 911 or Guntherworks 911 would be cool but those are pieces of art I wouls never be able to replace or drive like intended.

I am a giant Mustang and Porsche fan but it would probably be thr Viper ACR.

This I could marginally afford to track and enjoy.

I had a 67 L79 Chevelle, it was triple black with a red pinstripe and red line tires. Car was totally bad ass and straight as an arrow, concourse restored right down to all the paint markings, inspection stickers and grease pencil markings. Sold it for big $$$.

But if I could have another car it would be a 69 Boss 429 Mustang or a 69 convertible Trans Am, hell even a hard top 69 Trans Am would be super cool.

I think most of the modern equipment is scrapped, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there are some old toolings found in warehouses that haven't been touched in decades.
