My dad retired and we have gone on fishing trips the past couple years so that he could get out of the house and away from my mom.

last year we went on a float plane to a fish camp in northern Ontario that was 100 miles from a road. The year before that we went to the Faroe Islands and bird hunted and fished in the North Atlantic.

He wants me to start planning the trip and I’m thinking Belize for bonefish or the Amazon for peacock bass.  Maybe alaska?  You traveling fishermen enlighten me.

Probably July- August.  Just fishing or fishing and bird hunting. We aren’t looking to drag an elk a mile through the woods

Most of the main ones (worth traveling for) have already been mentioned:

Canada, fly in to remote access lake
Amazon Peacocks
Louisiana tuna (and/or) redfish
Alaskan salmon (and/or) halibut
Oregon sturgeon on Columbia river
Montana or Central Oregon fly fishing
Florida for tarpon fishing
Florida for bass fishing at Stick Marsh or equivalent

I’m going to try to convince him one of those floating houseboat charters for peacocks would be best while he’s still able bodied.  Apparently they drop you off in THE SHIT in nowhere Brazil

Charter a boat and go out for some game fish.  Added bonus is the boat ride if you're into that sort of thing.  My dad just decided to get into fishing last year, but more as something to do with his boat.  Otoh, I'm probably not the one to get fishing advice from since I never catch anything.

Right now...
For me, I'd be in the WV mountains flyfishing.
Yeah not super cool. But i had a blast last summer.
This year, we're gonna hire a outfitter to porter us in( no motor traffic foot, horse, bike only) and stay for 5+ days this time..
Went from 89f to 72f weather, cold water and just me and my younger brother.
Had a great time, even though it was day trips to different streams..
My 1st trout..on a rod i built.

Pacific blue marlin, including some giants weighing over 800 pounds, are caught year-round off Kona, where warm and very deep waters stretch to the east, south and west, beginning just a few hundred yards from shore. The peak time for blues is June through September.

For walleye, Drummond Island Potagannossing Bay right before the Mayfly hatch.  Easy to limit out and don't need much boat.  Timing is the trick though.

Hell yes.  That looks like it might be the ticket.  Blasting a halibut with a suppressed glock would satisfy the need for hunting and fishing

There's TONS of places on my bucket list.

Belize
Florida Keys
Grand Isle
Costa Rica
Alaska, (although I'm not a big fan of fly fishing for Salmon or Trout)

Of the places I've been fishing, there are a few that definitely warrant a return trip. SE Alaska is one of them, the Ono peninsula in Costa Rica, and the Tropic Star in Panama. The Florida Keys are awesome, lot of variety there as well as the Bimini islands.

My bucket list trips include a fly in to a remote Canada lake for pike and walleye, blue tuna in the north Atlantic, and a float on the Amazon.

Ft. Peck.  Chase big walleyes, pheasants, & grouse.
Could do the same on Sakagawea or Oahe as well.
Lots of cast & blast options for pheasants, ducks, walleyes, perch, big pike, etc. in the dakotas & minnesota.  Northeastern SD, Devils Lake area ND, Lake of the Woods MN.  I've shot ducks in the morning and caught a limit of walleyes in the afternoon in 3 states and it never gets boring.
