Great choice and my first also but then I thought about how much fun hunting grizzlies would be with a 600lb Tiger Retriever. You would be completely safe in Alaska except for Kodiak maybe.

Probably a cougar. That one the Russian couple on YouTube has is chill. I wouldn’t want the monthly food bill though.

You guys are thinking about this all wrong.  You don't have to pay that much to feed the tiger, just keep it as an outside tiger so he can roam the neighborhood and feed himself.

You'd have a fresh dead animal on the porch every morning as a gift.

but if and when golden retriever turns on you it is just teeth. If the chimp turns it is teeth, hands, and crazy strength.

Sure, I'd take a cougar.  I've already been around a 150+ pound one -- close enough to touch and pet.

When I was in college, the school had one as a mascot and for a semester I was part of the team that took care of her.  We'd take her out and walk her around campus every night.  Go into the buildings, into the fountains, pretty much wherever she wanted to go.

She was great around people since she had been raised around them all her life.  She seemed to take a liking to me since I could tell from her ears that she was curious about where I was almost all the time.  She liked to ride in her wagon when I was the one pulling it, too.

Tiger.

Pound for pound, cats are the most dangerous animals on the planet.

The problem would be keeping them fed...

Raven, or maybe one of the bigger weasels. Wolverine or a Honey Badger.

It'd be cooler if golden retrievers were wild animals. You could just go camping and find some friends to bring home.

I was just thinking about how cool an orangutan would be. They always seem so laid back and chill, and also seem to have a good sense of humor.

Another laid back pet would be a capybara. They seem like they could get along with anything.

I'm sure he was. They're pretty darn smart.

There's a story about one that just recently fashioned a tool out of paper to help retrieve a baby bottle that fell into its pond, and another story about one that was seen putting on sunglasses that someone had dropped into its enclosure.

It makes you wonder just how much they could learn if they were constantly by your side, like a dog would be.

What states is it legal to own a coyote?

I think Wisconsin is one.

The vid with the sunglasses is very cool. She knew exactly what they were, and how they were supposed to be worn.

Very casual about the whole thing, just styling.

I said grizzly at first but then I thought the same thing.  A cougar is more affordable and probably wouldn't any more than a large dog would.
