At least they’re not pointing it at us. Or depending on us for their defense.
Good for them. They’d best watch that warranty though… can’t let it expire. |

Global superpowers use CATOBAR supercarriers. They burn big coal, too.
It's kinda cute when the JV teams still put on a good show, though. |

Good for them. More allies with more capabilities surrounding China can't be a bad thing.

Will they operate F18's off that boat or some version of Russian junk?

Quoted: IIRC, they are planning on going the CATOBAR route with future designs. They operated CATOBAR carriers for decades. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: IIRC, they are planning on going the CATOBAR route with future designs. They operated CATOBAR carriers for decades. India had one modernish fleet carrier from the Brits but couldn't or wouldn't keep it running; and elected not to try to build their own. Good achievement with a native Kuznetsov clone, though - it probably runs better than the actual Kutznetsov. Quoted: Will they operate F18's off that boat or some version of Russian junk? F18s need cats for useful loadouts. It'll be STOVL or STOBAR models of something. If the Indians can stick some arrestor wires on the INS Vikrant, they might be able to run either lightly loaded F18s, or useful payloads with immediate naval aerial refueling, if they have that capability. |

We should be making inroads and establishing a deep friendship with india. The last 3 presidents were too busy deep throating pakistan for access into AFG that we offended and ignored india. A strong American/Indian alliance would buttfuck China good and proper.

There are a billion dirt poor Indians who we could buy computer chips and rubber dog poop from instead of enriching commies. |

Joke about call centers and river shitting all you want, but they would be a hell of an ally if things got "real". |

I was expecting a remodeled 17 foot bass boat with a piece of pressboard on top and drones.

They don't want to be seen as a client nation. They also periodically make deals with the commies. The would be a great hedge against the commies but they seem to want it have it both ways. To be fair, they see it as being in their interest to maintain relations with nations they border. |

They’ll never blindly back us on everything, but we’re insane not to try to develop the relationship as much as possible. |

To be fair, they see it as being in their interest to maintain relations with nations they border. Once again, I agree completely. Post British rule, they are leary about being perceived as subservient to any nation. Hence, the small commie deals. National pride spurred their "make it in India" initiative. That said, they are a strong US ally and have emulated much of our economic and social structure. As to their border nations, they have regular, unreported skirmishes with Pakistan. I've met one of their defence contractors who said their small arms designs get tested in real-world conditions quite regularly. No, they don't want an all out war with the Pakis, so they maintain a tense relationship. |

Look at the trajectories India and the USA are on. Which country is actually trying to improve? Which country is imploding from the inside?
