Offered a low cost, unfired one by a guy at work. I don't need it, but it seems like a cool "just because I can" gun.

Are these things useful for much, or are they just coke can blasting gimmicks?

Sort of reminds me of the old witness protection style shotguns that the Marshals used to use

ETA bought it

What is “low cost”?

They are fun guns. I don’t know how useful they are, but there they are fun!

E-File Form1. Put used stock on. Usefull.

Edit: Or pistol brace if that's your thing.

It is, but spend the $5 and AOW it and put a ATI scorpion pistol grip on it. It is allot more enjoyable/controllable that way.

ETA: Just get it as an AOW from a SOT. It is an entirely different animal with a pistol grip.

Breaching doors-- I imagine they'd be decent for that. Roughly a little bigger than an 870 MCS but adequate.

I use mine to open paint cans, pickle jars, beer bottles, all sorts of stuff really. It a very handy home appliance that I highly recommend.

Could come in handy.

What’s your neighbor, dumpster, mattress situation?

Why?  No different from any other aow.  I see it as a good truck, car gun, good for close range get away sorta thing.  Is it a toy? Sure, but it fits a specific purpose.  Heck it would be a perfect camping gun in certain parts of the country

I've been hunting with mine. Haven't seen a bear but it kills squirrels and grouse just fine.
I've shot a few 3 guns with it as well.

Seriously, I think that any idiot can use one to waste a bad guy within 10 yards and without much practice and generic buckshot.

If you want to do better at longer ranges then you need to train with it and get flight control ammo.

I keep mine handy for uninvited guests.

It's like a S&W 500, everytime I find one cheap I talk myself out of it.

It'd look great leaning up against a tire on the Jeep out in the garage. Keeps muh dumpster unencroached.

Niche usefulness. Whenever you NEED a ridiculously short shotgun. Otherwise, mostly stupid.

I found that you need to aim at the belt buckle.  I think the way the recoil happens the muzzle rotates up and the shots go high.

Also the recoil is insane so after about 15 shells it's no fun to shoot.

One summer, I killed 75 cottonmouth moccasins on my land-- mostly when mounted on a 4 wheeler.

I see much utility in this firearm.

With the new Crimson Trace "LaserSaddle," I think their practical utility is going way up.
