Some, from what I've read it take A LOT of shooting to wear them out, though.

I'm going to hit a gun show next weekend and hopefully find one off the list. I could bid on gunbroker, but I sure like to prowl around locally and see what I can scrounge up.

I had my crack gun dealer check with Lipsey's, and the SBH Bisley 5.5 inch 44 mags are showing as "sold out" if you're interested.

Estimated OTD price will be a grand.

Kurac, aka John Culina

He makes grips that share the "coke bottle" shape of the original 1956 N frame coke bottle grips, so they have a terrific palm swell that just feels wonderful in the hand

I'll let you know once I take the holster off later.

I honestly can't remember. I bought the holster and a J frame blem from a guy on S&W probably 6 years ago. Both are amazing holsters

Oof. That's steep, but I suppose that's the way things are now...

I'd settle for a regular model SBH, but that Bisley from the Keith thread really speaks to me.

One of my few grail guns

S&W mountain gun in 45colt
I had one in 44mag but didn't like the caliber and didn't reload at the time so let it go in trade but once I started reloading I saw they made them in 45colt so the search was on

bought it in the EE here
would like new wood grips and was wondering what everyone thinks of the Altamont walnut coke bottles? Are they worth the $100

Email John at Culina grips. I tried to paste the link in, but something won't let me.

See if he has something you like. It'll cost a bit more than $100, but I believe it'll be worth far more once you see the result

No. I don't particularly like altamonts. They don't fit my hand well in any of their variations. I don't like their finish or their wood. It all looks fake to me.

Try finding ahrends on eBay, or herrets. Vz for g10. Lately I've seen some n frame stag on eBay that would look nice as well.

The .45 mountain gun is a grail gun for me as well.

that was the first revolver I ever bought, it sat in the gun case for weeks at $225 back around 2010.  I finally bought it as a trainer, since I had no revolver.  It's in 98% condition.

the cylinder release latch sticks hard if it sits for a while.  Takes two thumbs to get it to pop free, then it's fine for a few days.  I don't know why.

I've shot a couple. They're very nice. The comp helps a tiny bit with hot loads. The tritium in the front sight sucks. The altamonts don't fit my hand. My m66-8 trigger is better than the couple I handled.

Those are very small complaints and all easy to remedy if I wanted one.

I bought a 4 inch 686 from a local arfcommer for a great price, even allowing for the lock. Then a LGS had a 6 inch no dash 686 and the Bond.

Then I found a 586 that was priced $150 low.

Still no "deals" on a J frame though. One shop has a 340 for $679, can't get over the idea that it seems high, so still looking.

Loaded up a few test loads today to see how they'd do out of the short guns. 158gr swc over 6.0 unique. Did have a little bit of an issue where I had to try and seat the swc ever so slightly deeper  because I couldn't get the cylinder to close on the gp100. Anyone else have a Ruger and notice it won't allow a slightly Longer round? Checked for  function in the Rossi as wellAttachment Attached File
