@byron2112

Looks like a Smith and Wesson Model 10 with a 3" heavy barrel?

Not sure on the grips.

@Joescuba   (Am I right?).

I remember REALLY wanting to buy that Mountain Gun in .45 Colt when I handled one in college, just didn't have the extra $700 at the time
View Quote
I bought one in 44mag back around 97 or so but never reloaded and didn't like the harsh kicking of it and years later traded it for a vaquero 45colt and cash then got to reloading and got deep in 45colt so a mountain gun in 45 colt became one of my grail guns. I found it on here almost 2 years ago, probably over paid slightly but since it took so long to find I was happy to get it.

The Redhawk is decent, but I don't think the design compares well to a S&W N-frame or Ruger's other revolvers.

I think Ruger's best .45 Colt is by far and away the Bisley Convertible:

It's a tough beast, this frame is more conducive for actual shooting than the traditional SAA/Blackhawk frame, and the Bisleys have nicer hammers and triggers.

I briefly considered selling mine last year and I'm glad I didn't. Prices are way up, the number of SKUs in current production are way down, and it's just a really cool gun I know I would have missed.

I don't think you should disregard the various Italian replicas, either. Some models are nicer than others, but they have nice SAAs and the Schofields are art.

I also kind of want a Thunderer:

Thanks for the kind words.  It is a French contract S&W Model 10 with a 3 inch barrel.

I bought a brushed aluminum grip adapter, but it doesn't fit right.  I think it was made for a round butt frame.  It's got a gap along the edge.  I think if I file it down at the very bottom where it contacts the frame and grip, it may match the contour a bit better.  The square butt frame curves a bit more in the front compared to a round butt.

Well, in light of Joe Biden's recent comments about "high caliber" 9mm, and their ability to rip lungs out, I feel much safer shooting my .44.  And since it's a revolver, you can't shoot or reload them fast.

I picked up a Henry All Weather 44 on Friday and loaded up some 240gr SWC’s up yesterday.  Took it out to the range this morning along with one of my 29-2’s as this is Revolver month.

This is after the range, hence why the 29 is dirty…..

Also, a mid-range 44 load.  9 grains of Win 244 under an ACME 240 gr coated SWC.  I got 1285fps average from the 20” Henry and 1058fps from the 4” Smith.

I just ordered a 6.5" .22 LR/WMR Rough Rider Tactical Cowboy revolver  It comes with a picatinny rail and the barrel is threaded for a suppressor The LGS is letting me have it for the MSRP $212.
I ave been vey pleased with the fit/finish/function of my Heritage Barkeep, also in .22 LR/WMR.

Haven't got to take it out shooting yet, but initially I'm very happy with it. Retention on it is excellent. Actually held it upside-down, lightly shaking it, and it held.

It's still revolver month, right?

Were on vacation this week. Stopped at a sporting goods store on our way to lake erie, found this little guy (686-6) in the used case for $500!

I had to give it a good home.

It's not uncommon that Tyler T adapters don't fit "perfectly" and you have a tiny gap at the edge.  Not sure if you have Tyler or a "Brand X" but in any case it's nothing to worry about.  They still function just fine.

Trivia: that part of the grip frame that the grip adapter fills in is called the "sinus" of a revolver.

There - you learned something new today!
