Yeah, cause everyone shot with a 9mm up til modern jhp's rubbed dirt on it and rocked on while those shot with 45 ball was DRT.

I wished I remembered the story/book name, but I remember reading about an Italian Mil guy in WWII shot an ungodly number of times from a Thompson SMG who played dead and crawled an ungodly distance to help and ended up living a long life.

Speak for yourself, peon.  At the GLG-20 level, anything goes.  We had take-down Dragunovs with Maglights clamped on them that shot bullets made out of frozen cow liver.  We had angle-head flashlights and 1911s shooting BIGOTs.  We had sonic, electronic, ballbreakers.

You'll use whatever you're issued.  If you were working with the Federal agencies it most likely would have been the P7.  The majority of the State police departments issued the P6, a few using the P7 and even fewer the P5.  Almost no European police agencies allow their officers any discretion on what they carry.

Yeah but did you have the "round the corner HK P7 sbr" with a stuffed animal as a muzzle ruse? Stg44 Krummlauf? If not you were small time Buddy.

There were German police Hi-Powers back in the 60's but probably not on the scale of P5/6/7.

I vote P2 pistol, which were SIG P210s...

The names to these guns are so forgettable. P5, P6, P7...all made by different companies. At least with most guns, they have a name so you aren't just thinking "smallish, possibly black, non-descript European pistol"...

In uniform? I'll take a P6 - I prefer the P7M8, but the heel mag release of the P7 will get me killed.

Undercover? BHPs were used by friend and foe alike.

I own a P5 and a P7. I had a P6 and sold it because of its shit trigger. P7 is too finicky.

It is a damn shame the P5 was discontinued (and was never made as a high cap for that matter). I think the poll would be different if more people had exposure to the P5. The P5 is a great gun.

I picked P7 but if it were 1980, I would still be a kid. I don't think I could "operate" to hunt down Soviet or East German spies.
If I were able to go back in time, that would be a different story. But even then, I would just go to the US, bet on sporting events that I know the outcome and live off that cash. Get a Ferrari 308 GTS like Magnum P.I.

Mine had a worn out barrel and was inaccurate as hell. And yeah, my M11A1 is a much better pistol in about the same size package. But for some reason, I still really miss that P6. It just had a lot of character.

Browning imported Sigs with European butt magazine releases.  The .45 at least was called the Browning BDA 45.  I don't recall ever running into a 9mm version, but they probably imported them.

Browning sort of opened the market for Sig to do their own thing in the US.

FMJ and the semi auto friendly bullets of that time were less than stellar.

S&W 4" 19, for me with 125 Federal JHPs.

1911 with SWCs would work fine, too.

Pre-89 P6's have a steeper feed ramp that will often not feed JHP's reliably.

Thank you.  Yes, they were called Brownings, which is what I said and what Miami seemed to want to argue.
