Orange marmalade FTW.
Apricot is a close second Blackberry and strawberry are tied for third. Grape is for women and children. But my grandmother's homemade peach preserves were the best. |
|
My Grandmother made ginger peach jam.
Mom made the best ever Strawberry. Miss that. I think I might try to make some marmalade. |
|
Chokecherry jelly is fantastic but something that is rare to find even at farmer's markets. It truly is one of those "grandma used to make" type jellies.
Otherwise, raspberry, strawberry, and apricot jams are a staple in my house. |

Cherry preserves
Strawberry Jam Orange Marmalade Apple Jelly Grape Jelly Piss on leftists saying grape is for women and children. |

My brother and I would raid Gramma's freezer for the fresh jarred raspberry preserves...with the parafin wax and all that.
FROZEN jam with seeds, we called it. On HOT Wonderbread toast with butter? That was Heaven! She pretended to be mad at us! Her rhubarb pie was excellent. We picked that from the yard of the guy across the alley. Dang. This thread brought back some memories! |

Grape Jelly
Strawberry preserves blueberry preserves raspberry preserves strawberry jam I don't experiment when it comes to jams and jellies. |

My Grandmother's raspberry preserves was the most delicious condiment ever. Wanna fight about it?

Black currant and strawberry jam are my favorites. I much prefer preserves and jam to jelly.
|
|
Havent had Marmalade since I was a kid, I shiver at the thought of going near it now
|

Sorry to tell all you tossers you are wrong; but nothing, nothing beats elderberry jelly or syrup.
Especially on pancakes. Nothing. |
|
Mayhaw without a doubt is the best followed by raspberry jam (with seeds).
|

I grow blueberries. There is no shortage of a low sugar blueberries preserves in the house.
I did plant 4 fig trees last year. A black mission which may make it will be used for candid figs, LSU gold which looks very promising as far as the size and quality of the figs and then 2 celeste will be used for preserves. I love mixing strawberries and figs for preserves. |

Orange marmalade
Strawberry preserves I bought a small jar of key lime jelly in Florida and it was delicious. Can we include apple butter in this discussion? |
|
If you like the traditionals, check these out. Blueberry Bourbon and Peach Sriracha are my favorite. They have a few staples and then a seasonal one.
If you have a Fresh Market near you, it may carry them (shipping is kind of a bitch from their website). Fair warning, the owners are friends, but I'd buy this stuff either way (and do). |

Hot Pepper Jelly.... View Quote Yeah. There's a place in Mackinaw City, MI that is a fish market. They have a fish pate' and a jalapeno berry preserve that go together like you wouldn't believe. So good. Attached File |

Strawberry rhubarb, FTW
Homemade blackberry or raspberry is too. |

Best is strawberry then blackberry.
gram also made a spearmint or peppermint jelly. Never liked it. Don't know if I've ever seen it anywhere else |
|
Many many good memories of the homemade raspberry and blackberry jam (with the wax seal on top) that my grandmother would make from the berries around their cabin, up on Somo Lake, Tomahawk, Wi.
Grandpa always told the story of competing for the blackberries with the bears in the area. |

My homemade Strawberry Jam
My homemade Blackberry Jam My homemade Peach Jam |

Blueberry lemon, jalapeño and onion, fig, and prickly pear cactus jelly for the win
|
|
I've made lots of types...single berry, etc...(even golden raspberry and black raspberry recently)
I have raspberry, blackberry and strawberry plants. A reduced sugar (still sweet, but the fruit flavor is stronger) 3 berry made with all of them is excellent (seedless) I also like homemade peach. |
|
Jams? Jelly? Those are ok. But it's Apple Butter for the MF'n Win!
|

Elderberries make great wine! The problem is, I can't usually find enough berries for more than a few jars of jelly, much less 5 gals for wine. I've tried the canned elderberry juice, but it just isn't the same for making wine.
