I wish him a swift painless exit. He stood and did the job of an officer and a Preeident, but I can’t forgive give his wonton destruction of the US nuclear energy futures.
He set the US back 50 to a 100 years and gave rise to eco weenies, we should be drowning in power and reprocessing fuel and wastes.. |

Lets not forget the botched rescue attempt, that was very poorly planned. 444 days later Regan was elected in a landslide, and just a coincidence, hostages were released. Ya the dems that followed him were even worse, but he get the downhill slide started. Miss him, no, I will celebrate. |

He allowed the establishment of fundamental Moslem tyranny in the Middle East. Nothing but war & destruction since then. That is his legacy.

Carter was honorably discharged on 9 October 1953 and transferred to the retired reserve at his request with the rank of lieutenant. |

I’ve posted this a long time ago, but I feel it needs repeating.
I had many relatives in VA care before Jimmy came on the scene. Including VN vets, and other actions we don’t hear much about. I went to visit relatives in several states, and all were the same The VA system was deplorable before Jimmy. Buildings in disrepair, short staffed in every instance, from laundry to commissary personnel. And very short on qualified doctors and psychologists and other mental health specialists. The system was like of a horror movie. Crumbling buildings in dire need of repair and paint. Antiquated equipment everywhere. Grounds looked unkempt and no snow removal for visiting relatives. I was numb when I saw the conditions the vets lived in, and the lack of care. Mental care was basically just drugs to keep the patients docile. During Jimmies term, everything improved. Buildings refurbished, new and bigger and better staff. Better food and housing in general. For this one action, he gained my respect forever. |

A friend of mine and I were touring the British Isles when Reagan won the election. We stopped in a nice pub in Edinburgh a couple of nights after the election. The owner/operator, a guy named Jaques asked us what we thought of That new president of your's Mr. Reagan? We told him that we were quite happy with the election results. His response was, "Auch, that Mr. Carter he's a wee mon." We said we couldn't agree more.....for the rest of the evening we weren't allowed to pay for a drink.
Pretty much sums up Carter as president. |

He lives 10 miles away from my office.
I remember a few months ago when the press corps flooded Americus and Plains on a death watch for Jimmy Carter. They were camped out every day like vultures in Plains during the day. Pres. Biden blurted out that he had been asked to do Jimmy's eulogy. Then Jimmy comes out riding in the back seat of a convertible waving at them all. They went home.

I was born in 1971. As a kid I remember the OPEC embargo and waiting on line for hours for gas with my dad, and writing letters to the Iran Hostages in English class in school. I remember massive inflation and and massive interest rates on my parents' mortgages.
The prime rate was over 15% when Carter left office. Inflation was at 13.3%. For all of you who think Biden is the worst we've ever had, you have NO IDEA how bad it was under Carter. Just this overwhelming national sense of misery, and a president who gave absolutely no confidence that he had the slightest idea what to do about it. Nice guy. Terrible, weak, ineffective president. I don't wish death on him or anyone else, but if we had to have a second term of Biden or a second term of Carter, we'd be better off with Biden. |
