Keep seeing this everywhere, is this the new gucciflage or does it have actual value in the field?
It has real value. To the people that sell it.
It does look pretty cool. I have no idea if it works. |
I think it was designed with fashion appeal as a principal feature.
I doubt anyone wearing it is gonna be on a two-way range anytime soon, so...

it's the latest camo fad. View Quote I wish it would go away so Kifaru will go back to making their packs and gear in that nice coyote brown they offer. I personally have never seen Kryptek in real life outside of a store, never see it in print magazines etc. It's like an idea they are trying to cajole us into buying into. I've already got Flectarn for fall/winter/spring, and I'd get MultiCam if I were worried about more arid places in my state. |
It's recently gotten a gucci/airsoft following, but it actually is a very effective pattern in the correct environment. The actual Kryptek brand clothing is quality and priced more reasonably than Sitka and comparable stuff. I've replaced my realtree and sitka gear with it for deer, elk and bear hunting. For some reason it seems like turkey can really pick it up though, so I skip it for them.
Plus it pisses off the elmer, blaze orange, thuddy thuddy marlin types to see me packing a deer out of a WMA carrying an AR wearing "that damn spider cammuh", while they're empty handed |
It's a neat hunting pattern and pretty effective, but Multicam family is still most effective in my testing. Benefit of Kryptek is it doesn't look poser military

Kryptek is dumb and so are people who like it. View Quote Wanna know how I know you've never used it? I don't know or care about it's military use, but I've killed multiple deer with it that I doubt I would have killed were I wearing traditional realtree or mossy oak. Including a 5yo buck that seemingly stared through me from 40 yards. He smelled me, but he couldn't see me. |
I am assuming it's the "Tapout" of camos since it's on Mountain Dew packaging.

People trash kryptek, but start getting hard for ATACS, Pencott, Multicam, etc.

It's got to be good, it has power names for each environment:
Highlander Nomad Mandrake Typhon |

That holster shows just how gay it is.
Edit: woops, spoke too soon. The tractor seat demonstrates this even greater. |

It is just another fad camo. I'm not saying it doesn't work. it is up there with Multicam, Pencott, Sitka, ATACs, ect.
I think every area is going to have something that works better. For instance I have gear in Multicam, ATACs FG, Pencott greenzone, Flecktarn, M84 Danish, us woodland, DPM, reproduction WW2 German "44 dot" smocks (looks like a mix of pencott and Flecktarn), ect. some work in the North GA mountains better in the summer (Atacs FG or M84) some in fall (flecktarn), Others work better in the south GA flatlands in summer (Multicam) and fall (Pencott badlands or Atacs AU). On the other hand back in Louisiana I usually have DPM, or US woodland. MARPAT works great there as well. |

Cool. a brown shirt, brown pants, a scent less soap shower and being still prolly would have done the same. That's how I kill deer 20 yards from me off my porch with a bow. |

If I could find some of that "highlander" pattern cheap I'd probably grab it. Until then, multicam rocks for my area. |

We will just go back to giving you a fruit cake. I have seen a couple people wearing it and it did seem effective. OP, best place to ask this question is the "Gear" forum, under the armory tab |
