We ride horses when we go to Ruidoso most summers. I always get the big horse. 6'1" 245lbs
Fortunately I have ridden horses for a long time so they are pretty comfortable giving me one of the less gentle horses. My wife and youngest always get the small gentle horses. |

Looking for trail rides out near Blanco last summer there was one that was VERY strict about who they would and would not accept on their horses. I don't remember what the weight limit was but I do remember it said they had a scale and WOULD make you step on it.
Lots of other rules listed but I can't seem to find the site now to reverify. Seems like it was place that took in neglected horses for rehab or retired racers or something and they were very clear that their horses' well-being trumped your wants and desires. Went with Travis P instead because of the great reviews about how funny and entertaining he is. Got an assistant instead. Met him afterwards and he did have the jokes but the horses weren't the most tip top shape ones I've ever seen. Hooves needed tending, etc. |

So, she put on a ton of weight and instead of thinking "I really need to do something to lose this, it's unhealthy, and hard on my body", she slams the ranch for not wanting to put a strain on and possibly injure one of their horses. Typical "It's not MY fault, it's THEIRS" that seems to be prevalent these days.
I remember when it was "you must be this tall to ride this ride", now it's "You must be UNDER this weight to ride this ride". |
|
Quoted: Stable near here has a 200lb weight limit clearly posted and explained with a no refund policy, and they put you on a scale. The amount of butt hurt is epic. View Quote Hell Oh Holy Hell! Do they charge admission to set up a chair at the scale and watch? Could be as good as a boat launch on a major holiday. |

Never heard of her.
Their horse, their rules. What, Their horse should suffer because she won't stop deep throating fried Twinkies. I get it and I'm a fatty... |

that rancher must have small horses. I'm about 250 and was able to ride horses a couple years ago locally here. cant really tell how much she weights there. maybe there's a 300# limit? dunno...lol

Bader shared a video of the ranch, with the text over it saying "Shoutout to Deep Hollow Ranch in montauk for making me leave because I weigh over 240." She's probably closer to 300 lbs. |

That blob of disgust isn't getting anywhere near my horses. She might eat them. Heck, I have two that I'm too heavy for myself. (220) Those are for the wife and nieces.
Newsflash guys, horses come in different sizes. My eldest niece, now 16, has been riding the same horse since she was 5. We taught it to walk up to a fence so she could get on and off the saddle since at the very start the stirrups were at her eye level. |

Yep, she should try sky diving. Argue with physics and see who wins.

240 seems to be a very, very conservative estimate.

i pity the horse that has to haul her fat ass, ANIMAL ABUSE!!! where is PETA on this?
|
|
Quoted: Possibly, but a lot of pay to ride places have older/smaller horses that know the game and are very docile. Figure about 20% of the horses weight for total carry weight, including tack, and that's a max limit. Rental horses might be lower to help save wear and tear on them. A quarter horse is like 1200 lbs at the high end, so you are looking at a max 180-240 lbs depending on how the owner sets the max and the weight and age of the horse. View Quote Thank you for the explanation. I think you nailed it. The article says she weighs over 240. It did not say how much over 240, 241 or 300? In any case, if the rider limit is 240 and she is over 240 what is her complaint? PETA should … err jump right on this. |

When we took a trail ride with an outfitter in Colorado, he put anyone who weighed over 200 lbs on a pack horse, which was a Belgian/Quarter horse breed. Problem solved.

It's a simple thing. If you really want to ride put the cookie down. You can be fit and at riding weight by fall if you commit and sacrifice.
Heavens forbid you take a little responsibility for your condition and sacrifice to do anything about it. Nah, probably the stables fault what meanies. I repeat PUT. THE COOKIE. DOWN. |
