No, but they should be when it comes to arresting people for things they think are drugs

Like Hibiscus
or Donut Glaze
or many of the other things people have been arrested for that were not drugs.

I get that the officer may have been a bit jumpy, or at least learned to take such reports with a grain of salt, but I'm more interested in the insurance policy.  Given that they aren't removing anything, does Nationwide now cancel their policy?  Does Nationwide bear any legal liability?  Article says the agent intentionally obscured the photo.

This...so stop giving them so many laws to "enforce". I don't even blame cops, this is all about excessive legislation as a whole. Feel good common sense bullshit for the last 100 years has made this kind of overauthority more likely.

The cops bear the brunt of the blame, if not the responsibility, but it is the accumulated legislatures ultimate fault for the plodding progressive restriction of liberties that is only getting worse.

From overzealous warrant service ending in innocent deaths to safety checkpoints generating revenue...the very demand for law enforcement cannot persist without constant flow of new laws.

If they aren't experts in drug identification they shouldn't call themselves drug identification experts.  But they've built a system where they can earn the expert title with about 120 hours of work so it's on them.

It's a lack of personal liability. Make them financially liable for gross negligence and a lot of bad/lousy cops would self weed themselves out of the system. Unfortunately it would very likely affect the good one's but cops usually know who the idiots are in their ranks. [just like every other profession]

I go into dope grower houses several times a week, it is so obvious from the odor it's not even funny. However, it's not my job to inquire on the legality of their grow, not is it my job to call the police. I have told plenty of them not to smoke it when I am inside working as we get piss tested quite regularly and I don't need to pop hot. All have been quite willing to comply with my request.

If you read the article it was their idiot insurance guy who mistook the plants and got the cops all hot and bothered.  Then the cops went full retard.

There were a few local news stories on it yesterday since the lawsuit was filed.  The insurance guy was inspecting damage to the home from some other event and of course this guy called the cops to report this couple's massive weed operation.  The insurance company also threatened to drop coverage of the couple due to their "weed" operation.

Then the cops ransack the place and damage stuff looking for "weed."

Not a lie, an honest mistake.  The important thing is that everyone in the process has someone else to blame.
