I did mine in around 5-6 hours. Not challenging for the most part, a very repetitive build in some parts.

If you missed out and don't mind the Chinese Challenge with the twenty bags of mixed up parts, the knockoff flavor is around $80 on AliExpress.

My wife once bought me a knock off kit, I wasn't impressed.

I'll see if I can find out what brand it was when I get home.

for $40 more If I can find one I will buy a legit Saturn V

BUT they did have a black pearl pirate ship knockoff for $40
I dont really feel bad about that since Lego no longer makes that one
and they are worth about $700

will see if it shows up

I wish, the other box is going to @thirsty.    When I bought mine I snagged a second once since no seemed to be able to get them, I figured one of my friends would want it.

I might just have to order that damn ikea case, I don't know why I'm so annoyed with the $50 shipping, I think amazon has me whipped

An Ikea is being built right now about 2 minutes away from me here in Jax. Won't be open until Nov. which really bums me out because I'm closing on a house this Friday and need furniture!

Ikea wants $80 shipping for the things we want The Amazon curse.

The Detolf is $$$ to ship because it's mostly glass, and glass is freaking heavy. No IKEA within driving distance? It's not a big box.

well you weren't kidding...
pirate ship got here last night
about halfway done with it

quality is decent but not as solid as a legit Lego set.  the bow of the ship had a bit of a warp in it
the directions are a direct Lego ripoff only poorly printed   telling the difference between a black or gray or white brick is ummm "interesting"
the parts are completely mixed up just like you said they would be

I work with a guy who does that on purpose.  He don't want the build to go too fast so he mixes all the parts up as step #1.

I actually kind of like it,
it slows me down considerably
instead of just sitting down and throwing it together I spend about 30 minutes here and there working on it

I had that black/gray/white challenge too, and ended up rebuilding part of the Executor because of it.

I replaced a couple pieces that were bad by buying them direct from Lego.  Depending on what's warping your bow, you might consider it.  I mean, yeah, it isn't 100% Lego quality, but for $120 for a 3200 piece set that is $1000 now, I was happy.  I'll settle for the 90% good enough factor.

I'll probably get some of the other big sets too, just need to figure out where to put them.  The Star Destroyer and Tantive IV builds are calling my name.  The Nebulon-B MOC they have looks interesting, if fragile.  Damn you Chinese Legos.
