Cool pets, but does anyone have a big cat (tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard, etc)?

Or hell, how about an ocelot named Babou?

Fine looking Crow. My dad had some kind a funky named crow at one time forgot what it was. Great pets. The crow was the only bird we could let out side and let it fly off and it would always come back to the house.

No pics, but a friend of mine has a big cat back home in NY. It's not legal, so I can't go into details on it.  I will say it's "different".

Nice looking wolves. Never saw any in captivity, but have heard of people owning them. Any permits required for them? When I lived in Ft. Wayne, In, there were a few registered wolves. They also had to be kept in certain conditions or they would be taken from the owners.

Birds always tend to go for the highest spot possible. I had a Lutino  cockatiel  growing up. Great starter birds or birds for kids.

Last I knew it was state by state. Some stateds allow wolves, some crosses below a certain percentage wolf, some no wolf or wolf cross. I went to school with a grl who had a blue arctic wolf and kept it like any other dog until it died of old age-no problems at all for her, but most don't get away with it. You have to let them be wolves-with very few exceptions they will never be dogs.

I saw a TV show about the history of dogs and they did certain tests with wolf cubs. Kept them in the house until they grew up and they just never "acted" like a domestic dog.

Interesting looking pet though!

My aunt used to run a big cat sanctuary where I worked over the summers as a kid. The experience I gained there taught me two things:

1.) I would never want something like that as a pet.

2.) Nobody else should have one either.

All of her cats came from people who thought it would be "cool" to own one and figured out later that it was not.

We had a lutino cockatiel. It was an awesome bird. We didn't clip its wings and it would fly around the living room. It had the remarkable ability to lay eggs whenever a pregnant female came in the house. We eventually lost Shiela after a grease fire in a Teflon pan.

Lost my Lutino for being impacted by pecking at the grit in the bricks at the base of our wood burning stove. Teflon is real bad for a lot of birds. My parents trashed all of their teflon years ago. We also lost many birds due to the fumes of a self cleaning oven. Mom sued Sears over that and won. No one knew self cleaning ovens could kill a bird, just like with teflon back in the day.

The worst was a female Bengal that escaped her enclosure and wandered down the road to a nearby ranch where she made a mess of some sheep. I answered the phone when the pissed off rancher called about the 330 lb cat that ripped apart a few sheep and his dog. He shot her half a dozen times before she went down ( I don't recall what caliber/gun). A storm the night before had taken down a tree which damaged her enclosure allowing her to escape. Thankfully it was just some sheep and a dog not somebodies kid.

The animals get destructive in captivity with lack of proper stimulation. They become bored and aggressive against their handlers. Most of what came our way were from people that could no longer handle them once they grew up. If you've ever had a cat you know how much of a ruckus they can create swatting a toy mouse around the house. Now imagine a 180 lb Mountain Lion swatting a garbage can around the house. Another factoid about large cats most don't know is they like to piss where they are laying and roll around in it. Not exactly an endearing quality in a house pet. Beautiful animals but the wild is where they belong. It's not fair to the animal when people take them as pets and it's stupid and dangerous for all others around.

Anyone have rabbits? I want a Flemish Giant bad, so I can take it for a hop around the neighborhood.

Used to have some looking, to adopt another one or two. The Giants are awesome up close (size of a medium dog sometimes)

The leash thing though might not work. I had one that  was okay with wearing one and quickly learned that instead of a straight line they just kind of go in large circles, that's when they are not sitting in one spot which during most of the day is what they do, but they are very fun critters that are food motivated.

Not a giant, but my 5 minute attempt at reenacting Night of the Lepus.

Southern Black Widow

Of course, sometimes they have babies...

Giant African millipede

Grey-Banded Kingsnake

Cobalt Blue Tarentula...yes, they are nasty.  This one slams his fangs against the cage side when I come near.

Giant centipede... also very nasty...ask me how I know

Something you don't see very often... Sheltopusic...leggless lizard from Russia/Turkey...

Just caged. My brother had nothing but trouble with a litter trained rabbit. Chewingest animal he'd ever had. Ate phone cords, TV cords, wooden chairs, anything. He gets out for exercise/playtime. Fun critter, but let's face it, he's no dog.
