Yes and no.

Yes because I've been it before.
No because when I went looking for it I found one with a comment below and trimmed it off instead of looking further. I believe the original to be legitimate.

Rimmed cartridges and big bore cartridges in a more easily portable package for hunting, especially at more reasonable prices. Yeah there's stuff like the Nemo Arms "AR's" if you want big-bore semi, but I don't want to hump one through Montana for days on end while hunting.

99% of the time though? AR all the way no question. Even in hunting, you can build a lightweight and capable 6.8 or AR10 platform and get much quicker follow-ups if needed.

Better at what?

They're slimmer through the receiver, easier to carry in the hand, less things to get hung up, easier to shoot .357 or .45 colt.

While 5lbs ARs are a thing, 5lb M92s are very, very handy and fire 300gr hardcast bullets at 2000fps

Better at what?

They carry a ton better.   That alone is often plenty to justify it.

The do a much better job shooting 357 magnum rounds too.  They're generally more fun.  45/70.  Id say they travel interstate better, but I don't know.

realistically,  I'm about  55378008% more likely to carry a rifle several miles through heavy bush this month (or ever) than end up in a rifle fight such that the advantages of an AR mean anything towards the outcome.  While an AR is certainly better than a lever-gun in a gunfight, the odds of that being a meaningful characteristic in my life makes that characteristic borderline irrelevant.

As a new member, OP might eventually find out (the hard way evidently) how NOT to draw attention upon himself in an unfavorable manner as a troll for attention.

why does stupid comparisons always come up? OP has to be trolling for triggered fuds.  just dont compare the two.. different rifles for different reasons.. wheel guns just as good as semi auto pistols?? in some hands yes even better!!   OP should have admin dump this thread in the trash bin and try to start an intelligent thread

I hear this statement being spewed much more often on gun forums (BULLSHIT, NO ONE HERE HAS SAID IT BUT YOU, DO YOU HAVE PROOF OF THIS?)this is really disingenuous and are just boot licking to gun control.(REALLY HOW IS THAT??)
If lever action rifles were so great and just as good as semi-auto rifles why aren't police and government agencies still using them since over 80+ years. (BECAUSE NO ONE BELIEVES THAT)
I see them useful for a bear gun such as the 45-70 guide rifle for camp protection against grizzly bear but not for SHTF combat or against multiple adversaries.
Semi-auto rifles are generally much more reliable/durable than lever action rifles which have more complex and fragile components that can break and render it inoperable in a high stress situation. (EVERY FIREARM HAS PARTS THAT CAN BREAK, SO?)
That being said there is nothing wrong with lever guns if you know there limitations and can accept what they are good at. (OBVIOUSLY LEVER GUNS HURT YOUR FEELINGS)
End Message (WHY PUT END MESSAGE? SOME TYPE OF WEIRD FLEX??)

OP you are the one who is all bent out of shape in the first place. seems like you are bothered because you read somewhere or you beleive someone is thinking there lever action is better than an AR. why would it even bother you?? serious question.  why did you start this thread in the first place? Umm...I’ve heard it before. It’s not a majority opinion, but you hear it from time to time. It’s usually coming from someone who has one and can’t afford to upgrade and is self conscious about it or it’s someone who just wants to buy a levergun for the fun of it but thinks they have to justify the purchase according to some measure of tactical utility.

But that still leaves the question by OP burned Post 28 on this topic out of the blue. Apparently he doesn’t know how merciless arf.com will be.

Reminds me of me years ago when I heard that Ruger wouldn’t sell high capacity magazines directly to civilians wrote them about it. I had to come tell arf.com about it, thinking that I’d get a “hellyeah, brother”. What I got instead was ... more like what OP is going to get.

Oh, well. Live and learn OP. Welcome to arf.com GD.
