So we're going back to non-NATO standard ammunition then?
News to me. |

I think some people don't understand how NATO logistics works.
The U.S. tells NATO what they will be shipping during the war and NATO decides of they want that or to buy their own logistical system. So far the choice has always been easy. |

Going to a 6.5 (or any different) chambering of traditional metallic cartridge for our next rifle/SAW/whatever is dumb.
Going to a 6.5 projectile in LSAT-shooting stuff makes a ton of sense. |

Clicked on title expecting to see a thread about going to law school. Went away disappointed

the bullets themselves don't look particularly aerodynamic
Lack of knowledge on what the fuck cased telescoped rounds solved |
By the way, we won't be allowed to buy any of this for 20 years at least.

From what little I can find about the LSAT online, I think it has the potential to be a damn fine weapon.

Good, neck a 6.8 spc down to 6.5mm and call it a day. Just make the bolt stronger and it is GTG.

Suddenly this shit makes way more sense... |

There is a guy on here who tests them. I'll wait for his confirmation before buying the 6.5mm business. I don't buy it myself. Even if they adapt a new cartridge, the projectile is still standardized and switching will cost a lot of money for questionable gain.
The gain isn't questionable at all. Particularly considering the potential to replace both the M249 and the M240.

Id like to see accuracy tests before I embraces telescoped carbine ammunition
Where is that portablegorrila or portabelagorilla guy...or whatever his name was.
As for accuracy, it should be fine. A good barrel with a good bullet will have good accuracy. |

Wouldn't dirt get in the end of the casing? How well will those feed? Seems like they would cause feedway stoppages.

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile View Quote Case is sealed so no sand in the case, and they use a push through system. No extraction and no angled feeding, technically it is a far superior feeding system that current small arms use. One member here has used it and said it just runs, and runs...and runs some more. Not to mention polymer has "self lubricating" features. |

Id like to see accuracy tests before I embraces telescoped carbine ammunition View Quote IIRC, the biggest accuracy problem with previous polymer cased ammo came from inconsistent crimp. These cases look like they have a much, much larger "bearing surface" on the projectile than tradition ammo... getting a good consistent crimp should be much easier. Hell, between a better potential crimp, large leade, and a protected bullet, I don't see any reason why this stuff couldn't be made more accurate than what we have now. |
The cartridges in her left hand are crimped around the body (under the links). What's up with that? Easier to unlink?
Damn it, I just bought another lower today.
Oh well. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say; I'll be fine building another AR15. |

So we're doing the part in red then? It wouldn't surprise me. HK is going to develop our next service pistol, carbine, DMR, SAW, and GPMG. All chambered in .351WSL. |

Does polymer cased have the potential to cost less than brass assuming proper economy of scale?

Does polymer cased have the potential to cost less than brass assuming proper economy of scale? View Quote According to what was posted before, yes. Cases should cost like a penny once mass prduction starts so the overall cartridge should cost much less. However this is just what has been stated,so this is second hand. |

So looking at the bottom right corner of the chart, is that the "carbine?"
