Sort of analogous story relating to casino slots from years back. Some guys found a glitch in Video Poker that allowed them to basically increase their bet after they had won.
They take the casinos for hundreds of thousands, got greedy one day and got caught...and we're found not guilty. Their argument was that they just used the buttons and UI as is and didn't tamper with the machine so it's not cheating. It might make people question their undying allegiance to AI everything (though gas card is far simpler than AI, it applies as that gives AI far more code to inject some keyword overrides for updates on decisions in certain charged topics). We already see AI reducing what we get in our searches more and more. It's the first 3 pages now of all "approved by Snopes" sites only. That's not getting any pushback, either. I preferred google of 2015 where you could actually find stuff. |

The customer is using the machine to "play" against the casino. A typical "point of sale" or "service system" does not give the business an inherent edge or advantage over their customers. It is there for the customer to use to gain access to the service/product the company offers and complete a mutual transaction. |

Let's say the thieves made off with literally everything in your house because you were away traveling for a month. No big deal, right? Just let them walk, right? The circumstances of HOW she stole does not change THAT she stole. I'd throw the book at her. She is apparently used to a life of zero accountability. That needs to change. We don't need new laws, we need to enforce the ones we already have. |
