Quoted: My solution Own 55 acres, build house in middle of 55 acres surrounded by 30-40' pine trees. You need a satellite, drone or aircraft to see my back yard. Same will my swimming area. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/20856/IMG-0840-149091.jpg View Quote This was my solution, also. My home doesn't have shades on any of the windows. No need. |

Quoted: Above ground pool? Move the pool farther back, then it'll be easier to shield. In ground that close to fence? I'd build some wheel mounted rolling screens out of wood siding. Maybe 8' wide and 6' tall. 3-4 oughta do it. Roll 'em right up to pool edge on platform side of pool. Need a drone to get over that. Edit: Temporary is the name of the game. How 'bout a sail? Shade Sail Mount one side on the fence, stretch over pool. View Quote This was going to be my suggestion. Put a couple at an angle side by side. They won't be able to see shit. |

I don't understand how you're limited to a 6' fence but this dude can just randomly build rickety-ass-looking 8' platforms and still be code compliant?
I agree with the crowd that an angled privacy screen/tent thing is what you need. |

Quoted: bamboo View Quote You can buy a package of 300 giant bamboo seeds for $10. Sprinkle them into your blower’s air stream. You will be amazed how far they float through the air. As you cut the grass it only trims the tops of the bamboo and the roots continue to grow under ground. In a few weeks your neighbor will be scratching his head trying to figure out what happened. |

I would talk to a lawyer about it, if your daughters are under 18 and you can get them on video watching them.
Plus the lawyer can look into the privacy and zoning end of it. |

Post a sign that your neighbor built the platform to sit and watch your naked 2 year old grand kids playing in the pool.

Right away put cameras up pointed right at them where they can visibly see the cameras and they are being recorded 24x7.

How much space is there between the pool and the raised platform side fence?

1) Setup a camera
2) Live stream the video 3) Rent a billboard in the center of town with the following "Is the mayor a pervert? Find it below:" List web address for the camera on billboard. |

His "Spy platform" is more permanent than your "pool"...
he might be building it to spy on you but likely hes just building his kids a tree house. move the pool behind the bushes. |

Run a generator that's jetted really rich next to the fence with a custom exhaust the runs up the fence and turns 90deg at the top.

Yea, seems like you could just shift left or right a bit and be behind foliage

After seeing the pictures, I had a new idea. Build your kids a tree house with no windows in back 'right there' in front of theirs on your side. Since you have girls, painting it like a Barbie Dream House would be nice too. I'm talking the worst variants of girlie colors you can source. His sons should enjoy looking at the back of that.

Build your own tree house
Seems like it would need to have some solid walls Place the counter tree house where it'll block their view. |

Quoted: Here's an update on the platform: https://i.imgur.com/O1vzHkU.jpg Here's a wider angle pic. You can see my brand new fence in the background. Prior to its completion, their kids would routinely walk around the privacy fence, to the back of my yard, looking over the chain link fence at us. This portion finished off entirely enclosing my yard, and for 4 days, it was basically impossible for them to see us in our pool. Then he started building the spy nest. Here's his view of my tiny pool for my 3 year old girls. This area (was) going to be the site of bigger pool areas as they get bigger. For everyone calling me a liar, look thru the lilac bushes and you can see the brand new portion of the fence that finished off enclosing my entire yard. https://i.imgur.com/CF7zX96.jpg View Quote Easy. Move your pool about 10 feet to the left or right. You already have a tree and shrub blocking the view from those points. |

Question = you think a pervert and/or his kids are staring at your wife and daughters, then why aren’t you addressing this with him by being directly in his fucking face, instead of worrying about “taller fences?” Am I missing something? I don’t get it. Help us out. Sounds to me like this could get solved pretty easily by letting him know where you stand as a man, about perverts staring at your daughters. You know, help him gain a “new understanding” of you and the ground rules. |

Why should OP have to move his pool or in any way change his plans in order to protect his privacy in his own backyard? He's already done what is reasonable by enclosing his yard with a solid privacy fence.
I had a neighbor put up a jungle gym swingset in their backyard where their kids could see over my privacy fence directly into my bedroom if I didn't have my blinds closed. I went over and explained to him and his wife that I am a single middle-aged man who enjoys sleeping in the nude with my window open and that I cannot/would not control the noises and visuals coming from my bedroom when I have a lady friend visiting during afternoon backyard play time. They moved the swingset the next weekend. |

Quoted: Hmmm... OP is convinced the neighbor is a creep, but so far the only evidence we've seen is the frame of a treehouse/fort. Maybe he just happens to be putting up a new play structure for his kids? Personally I'm a private person and would love to see a 15' high fence or a thick hedge in this situation (regardless of the neighbor). I'm just curious as to why OP thinks the dude is a perv... Is there more to the story - other than "his kids are peering through the fence"? Is this him? https://media.glamour.com/photos/5696463ed9dab9ff41b59a12/master/w_1600,c_limit/entertainment-blogs-obsessed-2012-11-15-1115_wilson_ob.jpg View Quote It's possible the "neighbor is a perv" is slightly overblown. However, if you were a dad of 3 young daughters, just got done finally enclosing your yard, and your neighbor built a "treehouse" directly adjacent to your pool, when he has several other acres to choose to build it, how would you perceive it? |

Despite what GD says, sometimes you can actually get somewhere with that type of behavior. Maybe you’ll be surprised at the result. Or, maybe you won’t. And then you’ll need to make a decision about what to do. |
