No, he did not get shot instantly. The cops were patient with him. They came to a domestic violence call. He answered the door, said he had a gun, told the officers to back off. They were fine. When he pointed the gun at them all homie-style then they shot him.

Well, don't have to worry about repeat offender problems with that dumbass.
Moron watched too many movies where people just stand around with guns pointed at each other talking shit.
That's not how it works in the real world, you start some shit and then point a gun at the police when they respond, yeah, you gonna get shot.
Officer Wingman needs some re-training about the line of fire, if the guy in front had moved to the left to dodge or engage more hostiles it could have gotten ugly.

When it's time to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.

Talking and pointing with no shooting says "suicide by cop". Which apparently is what the family thinks too.

Why the fuck don't we have easier ways to off ourselves than that? Seems unfair to the cops.

That pretty much defines "don't shoot until you think he's down, shoot till he knows he's down"

ETA: Good thing the gangsta wannabe didn’t start shooting right off. Lead cop would probably be getting a stretch of road named after him.

Thank God the cops did not hit the people behind him. The woman and the cops were very lucky on that one. She seemed unfazed by the shooting.

Clearly justified shoot, but it makes me question if they forgot why they were called to the house as they let so much lead fly into the house when there were two people down the hall.

Maybe I am an idiot for questioning why so much lead is flying in so many of these LE shootings, but I grew up the son of a LE Officer who carried a snub nosed 38 for most of his time as an undercover detective. It was only in the final years of his career did he start to carry a S&W automatic with like seven or eight round mag. They were trained to fire two shots center mass and then one to the head if the two did not put the guy down. Back then I just do not recall hearing about officers dumping their entire six rounds at a criminal at one time. Back in the day in my fathers dept they were rewarded with a day off for shooting really well.

Now I understand you shoot until you stop the threat and I understand the stopping power and lethality of handgun rounds, but in some many of these officer involved shootings today they are just letting way to much lead fly. How many rounds did they fire at this guy when there were two people in the line of fire.

That second cop had a real tight firing lane endangering his partner if first cop steeped to the left, say to take cover/"get off the X".  He either should have angled off to the left more (difficult with the door frame) or pushed forward, getting online with his partner, so his body would have blocked the other cop from moving into his line of fire.

A cop in South Africa died in a similar OIS from friendly fire in a similar situation, firing line offset and lead shooter steps into "firing lane" of another shooter.  Reaction time is reaction time and it works with sucker punches as well as shooting in a "team environment".  WARNING: GRAPHIC VIDEO SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE FRIENDLY FIRE

If you know your partner, and his training, and your training, it isn't as dramatic as it seems to some.
You don't even have to be a Cop to know what to, and not to do.

Fair enough.  How many rounds should they be allowed to shoot then?

Is it normal for an officer to shoot 10’ behind another officer with a 1’ clearance on line of sight?

Seems kinda dangerous for the officer in front.
