How often do states ask the feds for replacing a states bridge? You'd think they have enough money in MA to fix these bridges with all the taxes they collect?
BOURNE (CBS) – Massachusetts leaders are reaching out to federal officials to express “deep disappointment” in the lack of funding set aside in Washington, D.C. for the replacement of two aging Cape Cod Canal bridges. There’s no mention of the Bourne and Sagamore bridge replacement projects in President Donald Trump’s budget or the United States Army Corps of Engineers’ work plan. “We are greatly disturbed by this omission of funds for the Cape Cod Canal Bridges and demand answers as to how the USACE plans to finance the replacement of such vital bridges that have long outlived their usefulness,” Sen. Ed Markey, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Bill Keating wrote in a letter to Assistant Army for Civil Works Sec. Rickey James and Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney. A final decision from the Corps on the bridge project is expected in the spring, and the letter writers are concerned that funding won’t be available to get work started immediately. “We are concerned that this decision reflects a failure to understand the urgency of the situation for the Cape & Islands,” the letter states. “The residents of this region cannot wait multiple years for this project to begin.” Under the replacement plan, the existing bridges would remain in operation until the new bridges open. A spokeswoman for the Corps told The Cape Cod Times that they can’t budget for the replacement project until it gets final approval, but they are funded to keep maintaining the bridges for safety purposes. |

We're building a wall so there will be less traffic across the bridges.

Meanwhile, in the real western MA, all our bridges are crumbling around us, and we get to pay more taxes for the bullshit that happens in eastern MA.

"Outlived their usefulness..."
Why do you want money to fix it if it isn't useful? |
|
Internal improvement. Not the Federal government's responsibility. Pay for your own goddamn bridges.

Wait until Lizzie gets elected President. She will take care of it.

Give them two ferry landings, tell them to eat shit, and let Trump tell us about the time he helped the people of leftist MA while coming in under budget and under time.
|
|
|
They “demand” answers to why we have to pay when they spend money on bullshit.
Eat my dick. |

Those two bridges (been over both literally hundreds of times) were built back in the 1930s as one if Komrade FDR’s “busywork” projects.
There is literally no reason why the Corps of Engineers needs to be involved in any of this anymore. |

I'm from Mass, and I done care either.

Remember the "Big Dig" in Boston ? Guess the price tag on that one.

Well the Corps of Engineers was/is responsible for building and rebuilding the bridges I believe. I think that would be why it's a federal budget item. Also, Cape Cod is a complete shithole now unless you have a mansion on the beach. I used to have a nice cottage by the beach there and it became overrun with Katrina outcasts and drug addicts. I sold it, but I still cross the bridges occasionally for work. I hate it. No offense to any Cape Codders here, but they should let it float away.
Also local conservative radio(yes, that's a thing) was laughing at local officials for ripping Trump amd then expecting money from him. |

I have the answer !!!
Lizzie is indian Lizzie goes to “her people” tribes/casino’s gets the money Bridges fixed Win !........wait.....wut ? |
|
“The residents of this region cannot wait multiple years for this project to begin.”
Then they should move somewhere that bridges aren't required. |
|
Let them rust.
Mass can depend on a ferry boat for all I care. |

The NY/NJ Metro area takes in an insane amount of money via tolls but they always have their hand out to the feds and piss and moan when they do not get every dime they demand. Of course since Trump became President when they bitch and moan they say it is because NY/NJ oppose Trump and that is why he will not fund their infrastructure. Trump simply says I am not funding your over priced scams.

Taxachusetts doesn’t have money for a bridge?
Just take it out of my uncles’ pockets. They hate guns so I’m sure they would rather see the iron made into a new bridge. |

Spending billions of dollars on Illegal aliens is more important than bridges for the peasants
|
|
Why don't they recycle some of the millions stolen from the big dig.
So glad I left massive two. Shits many years ago And that glacial moraine can slide into the Ocean for all I care |

Quoted: Judging by the multi-mile back ups Thur-Mon on those bridges from Memorial Day to Labor Day, I’m pretty confident that quite a few people find them “useful.” If not, go ahead and demo them.
