The Republican Loyalists (here & I.R.L.) will go to the polls, hold their nose & vote for even the Wackiest Trump Candidates - doing as their duty as "Republicans".
However those Trump Candidates are often not strong as General Election Candidates - to win in a General Election a Candidate must pull over the Middle (that is how Trump narrowly won in 2016 & narrowly lost 2020) The Middle makes the Decision & that Decides General Elections. This year should be an easy "cake walk" with the Economy in Shambles & the usual dynamics of being a mid term - for the Republicans to sweep both the House & Senate. But anger over the Abortion issue with women voters blaming the Republicans (50% of the population) & Trump personally injecting himself into many local races - making it "about him & 2020" - have made for a MUCH tighter race than a typical midterm should be. I sincerely hope Republicans can win the House & Senate this year. I've voted from Republicans every single election every single position since 1980. As much as I dislike Trump (the Man & Politician) I'd still hold my nose & vote for him a third time as a Republican if it came to that in 2024 Vs. wasting a vote on a 3rd party or voting... for ... a ... Democratic . Bigger_Hammer @FMJ3 |

Quoted: It got us the majority on the Supreme court which gave us Bruen victory. Among others. Control of the chamber is a big deal. It also prevents bad bills like an AWB from being able to get a vote. View Quote Yep, the ONLY reason that there isn't a nationwide confiscatory AWB ban in effect right now, is because the GOP held control of the House in 2012 when Sandy Hook happened. The media went into a full court press to try to push the GOP to bringing a AWB to the floor, and the leadership ignored them. Control is vitally important. Had the Democrats had a trifecta back then like they do now, they absolutely would have gutted the filibuster and pushed through a NY style outright ban. |

View Quote In my state alone, in that time frame, laws were passed to change CCW from shall issue to must issue; open carry was codified (it had long been a gray area here); the state prohibition on SBRs and SBSs was removed; our "stand your ground" law was clarified/strengthened; and, just this year, Constitutional Carry was passed and enacted. Similar efforts occurred in many other states during this time. In every case the primary drafters, supporters, and champions of these efforts were Republicans. (A few individual Democrats may have voted for these elsewhere... here, they fought every one tooth & nail.) |
