More restaurants are adding a “health and wellness charge” to help offset the rising costs of health insurance. Owners of the Travail Collective are the latest to join this new trend. Earlier this week the company started charging a 3% fee at both its restaurants, Travail Kitchen and Amusements and The Pig Ate My Pizza in Robbinsdale. |

I'm thinking about getting some business cards made up that say something like "I understand the cost for your medical care went up, so did mine. But I have no way to charge the additional cost, and you do, so I'm reducing your tip by a similar amount."
When I encounter a restaurant like this, I'll leave the card with the reduced tip. Of course I wouldn't go back again. |

DO I LEAVE A GRATUITY?
When you are purchasing your ticketed reservation there is a 21% Service Fee and Health & Wellness Surcharge added when you checkout. (this includes a 18 % service fee and a 3% Health & Wellness Surcharge, which helps us provide health insurance and a liveable wage for all employees). This is also applied to any purchases you make at the restaurant, on beverages etc. There is no expectation of additional gratuity, but you can leave additional tip at your discretion.
