So they’ve managed to not set off an alarm for 70 years. Now with the Norks getting froggy and Trump in office, today it just “happened”. I’m not buying it. This was done on purpose. I’m not sure why though.

I was watching the news conference earlier and the lead guy in charge mentioned something about screen with mouse click buttons/questions that you have to answer before it will set off the alarms. It sounds like a PC terminal not a physical button.
There are supposed to be several layers of questions that you have to go through before the warning is sent out. The problem is that their early warning system allows just one person to sound the alarm. They were discussing something about changing that trigger immediately to a two man system, both people have to agree before sending out the alarm. Probably one senior and one junior turn key type set up.
