Quoted: If he’s hearing voices in his head, why would his getting hearing aids even be relevant? How is a device outside of the head even able to affect a process inside the brain when there is no outside stimulus needed in that process? View Quote NOT a doctor, but i read a lot. The brain is amazing, it filters all sorts of background info out 99.99% of the time . Currently you are reading this and you are seeing roughly 180 degrees in front of you, but only actually comprehending about 3degrees, your butt is giving you feeling signals from what the material of your chair is, the mouse is giving you feeling of what the surface is made of, your skin is giving you information about room temp, the drone of your HVAC unit in the background is being filtered out. Each of those things is taking a tiny bit of brain power to filter out, but once you concentrate on them they "appear" again, this is why it is harder to concentrate with music, a TV, 6 kids playing tag, etc going on. . Potentially the hearing aids nudged the filter mechanism of his brain enough that it wasn't working (or was working incorrectly) and he was hearing his HVAC unit but understanding it as "kill bowlers at XYZ address". |

View Quote but it WAS noticed though. he was referred by his command for mental health screening / care people KNEW he was losing it ------------------------------ Maine hunts for Army reservist suspected of killing 18 in Lewiston By Richard Valdmanis and Gabriella Borter October 26, 202311:15 PM EDTUpdated 12 hours ago LEWISTON, Maine, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Police on Thursday searched the woods, waterways and towns of Maine for a U.S. Army reservist wanted in connection with the mass shootings that killed 18 people and wounded 13 more the previous night at a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston. The town of Lewiston, a former textile hub of 38,000 people, and neighboring communities largely shut down to enable hundreds of officers to expand their manhunt with an arrest warrant for Robert R. Card. Card, 40, is a sergeant at a nearby U.S. Army Reserve base who law enforcement officials said had been temporarily committed to a mental health facility over the summer. Police circulated photographs of a bearded man in a brown hooded sweatshirt and jeans at one of the crime scenes armed with what appeared to be a semi-automatic rifle. Hundreds of officers from an array of agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard joined the search, and neighboring Canada said its border officers were on alert. There was an eerie quiet in the normally bustling city on the banks of the Androscoggin River, with almost no cars on the roads, just a few people outside, and many downtown businesses closed. Rifle-toting security agents in bulletproof vests guarded the hospital where many of the shooting victims were taken. Card's trail led to Lisbon, about 7 miles (11 km) to the southeast, where Maine State Police found a white SUV they believe Card used to get away and parked at a boat launch on the river. Public records showed he has three watercraft registrations: two Sea-Doos and a Bayliner. Card is a petroleum supply specialist at the Army Reserve base in Saco, Maine, who had never been deployed in combat since enlisting in 2002, the U.S. Army said. A Maine law enforcement bulletin described Card as a trained firearms instructor who recently said he had been hearing voices and had other mental health issues. He threatened to shoot up the National Guard base in Saco and was "reported to have been committed to mental health facility for two weeks during summer 2023 and subsequently released," according to the bulletin from the Maine Information & Analysis Center, a unit of the state police. Reuters could not confirm the details reported in the bulletin. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/police-scour-maine-man-sought-lewiston-mass-shootings-2023-10-26/ ---------------------------------------------- |

Is there that much room for a person to hid behind the pins? View Quote Some reports said he hid in the pit and others said he crawled up on top of the pin setter. I would assumed he crawled up top of the equipment. There should be a little space between the machines that you can climb up on before you get to the pit. And depending on the design/setup there could be a few feet of space between the overhang and the machine. The pins are knocked into a small pit with a belt system to feed them back into the pin setter. The pit is generally a foot or two above the actual concrete floor, due to the space needed for the belt system. Going into the pit would be relatively dangerous due to a lot of moving parts and I'm not sure how easy that would be to get out of. Edit- Don't know if I explained it well. This video shows a pretty normal setup. |
