Quoted: Quoted: Anything that operates over a certain PSI is considered "high powered". Even the 5.56. I think. According to...? IDK. I can't find a definite answer. Some think it goes by muzzle velocity. Others by muzzle energy. Still others by projectile diameter. Very nebulous concept. |

Quoted: No. Intermediate calibers are things like 5.56 and 7.62x39. Military select-fire rifles in those are called Assault Rifles. 7.62x51, .303, 30-06 etc. are considered full calibers = Battle Rifle View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/lewiston-maine-mass-shootings-10-27-23/h_57b230bf457a5ced9beb62fbe9476f37 What we know about the weapon: The rifle was a Ruger SFAR, chambered for high-powered .308 ammunition, the sources said. The .308 round is favored by military snipers firing at long distances and big game hunters. It's larger and more powerful than the regular ammunition carried in the rifles of soldiers and SWAT teams. One of the challenges in identifying victims at the two crime scenes from Wednesday's mass shooting was nearly all the victims were shot in the head, rendering some of them unrecognizable, a law enforcement source told CNN. The sources say the weapon found inside Card’s 2013 white Subaru Outback appears to be the same one fired by the gunman at the bowling alley and a local bar, though a ballistics match has not been confirmed. The weapon will be processed by the FBI and ATF for fingerprints and DNA, and then run through laboratory testing to determine if the bullets and shell casings found at the scene match. Sources tell CNN Card also bought a Beretta 92-F 9mm semi-automatic pistol, along with the rifle, in the same July purchase. Probably capped himself with the pistol. "High powered .308" .308 is intermediate not high power, correct? No. Intermediate calibers are things like 5.56 and 7.62x39. I thought I remembered seeing here that it was the very top end of intermediate. Thanks for clarification. |

Live news, press conference in 20 minutes:
Maine mass shooting suspect Robert Card found dead |
|
|
I remember a police radio call last night saying a caller about 8 miles from Lewiston heard 3 gun shots in the distance. I was imagining Card firing 2 rounds in a rage or to build up the courage before eating the third round.

This thread has been perfect to identify the conspiracy theory tards. GD is unfortunately rife with them.
The guys glued to their police scanners are an equally sad bunch. |

The adage ''it's better to have and not need rather then need and not have'' probably ran through a few peoples heads the last day or two. And he should have shot himself before he shot anyone else. These damn people always want others to suffer the way they think they themselves are suffering. |

Quoted: I have read every post in this thread since it began. Thanks to the OP for keeping the title clean and updated. May the families begin to properly grieve and bury their dead. I will not repeat the shooter's name because he does not deserve the recognition. But, I am glad he is dead even though it was the easy way out for what he did to those people, who were out enjoying an evening with friends and family. People such as the shooter do not represent me as a human being nor as a gun owner who believes in the United States and the Constitution. That is all. View Quote Tell that to FJM While she and the state pass new firearm laws. Maine has been a shit show for a long time. Once LePage was gone its gotten 100x worse |
