My dad bought me a 1969 Ford F100 when I was almost 15. It was already painted black when I got it and had gray tweed interior.  I went through a couple engines in it being your typical high school kid doing magnificent burnouts lol.  A few years after high school I traded it to a buddy for a mustang with the intentions of buying it back but never did.  He sold it in ‘06 and I lost track of it.

I’ve fished around for it off and on and when my dad died 4 years ago I really wanted it back.  The buddy I sold it to was going through some old paperwork and found the guys info that he sold it to and called. Turns out the guy still had it and had kept it in his barn down In Stephenville for the last 14 years with the exception of a few short trips around the block and letting his son take it to prom.  It’s been driven less than 500 miles since I sold it. He did have the interior redone as it is now which I have no complaints about.

I made the trip down to Stephenville on Wednesday and talked him out of it and brought it home.  First thing I did was washed the barn dust off of it, shined the tires, and took my wife for a spin.

It’s got drum brakes in all 4 corners and they are a little squirrelly after the years so it’s gonna get disc brakes all the way around.

Gents, meet Black Betty.

Man, my dad had a green '68 F-100 from before I was born until he sold it in '96 or so.  I miss that truck.  He had it completely repainted in about '88 and added power steering around the same time.  He kept it looking good.

I learned how to drive stick on that thing. Three on the tree, FTW!

Awesome that you tracked her down!

Nice to find and get your first ride back, ain't it, OP? I'm still looking for my 68 Cougar that was babyshit brown with a moon roof, black vynil interior and 390, 4bbl with 3 on the tree. Was missing the passenger side "eyebrow" trim for the headlight. I sold it when I got sent overseas.

Nice, my brother had a '69 Ranger long bed. 390 engine and three on the tree. I loved driving that truck except no power steering or power brakes. It actually had factory add-on AC.

Never had much use for the late 60s-early 70s Ford trucks until the last couple of years.

They are really starting to grow on me. Yours is a nice example and well, getting it back means it was meant to be.

I have been trying to find my dad's 67 Camaro for a while.

Have the manuals, window sticker, VIN and protect-o-plate stuff. Last I saw it was in the mid 80s in New York.
Guy he sold it to did floors, quarters, etc and had the whole car in primer when he had to sell it due to divorce.

1967-72s were built like tanks.

Wish I could find our/my 1971 F-100 Ranger XLT. Had dammed near every option for '71.

Nice!

Glad you were able to find it and get it back. I'd love to find the family's 65 Wildcat but it disappeared many years ago.

I bought a 76 F100 SB with the 300 three on the tree and no power anything in 1986 with 44k on it.

I liked it so much that I swore I'd never sell it and still have it 34 years and 85k later.

You can sit or stand in the engine bay and nearly everything is within easy reach. Very simple to work on and parts are available and cheap.

Nice truck.

My brother and I drove the family 1970 F100 everywhere.  Loved that truck.  Wrecked it on I35 and drove it back to UT.  It was stolen from campus the next day.  Never recovered.

Fuck me that’s an awesome truck. Ford had a run from the mid 60s to late 70s that are some of the best looking trucks ever made.
