To me... Kim Jong or whatever his name is, is all bark.

If he REALLY wanted the US in a conflict, he doesn't need an ICBM... just launch something at South Korea... that'll likely bring the full wrath of the US Military, and he'll get what he wants... Instead, he starts launching crap and letting it land in water as some sort of scare tactic... if he really wants some, the answer on how to get it is very simple.

John Schilling estimated the Hwasong-14 could travel 10,000 km with a light warhead. We'll see if performance lives up to expectations.

Yeah, I think the worst part is the official pronouncements will happen when the general public isn't paying attention, not that their deep into threat assessments as it is but at least being aware of the implications generally speaking. The best case scenario is a massive first strike. Take out as much of their known military, political, and infrastructure as possible in the first few minutes. Submarine launch the first strike and follow it up with strategic bombers.

China is too pragmatic to jump into a fight that starts with a nuclear strike.
