Car batteries are worth money if you take them to a recycler. I can't remember how many dollars per pound, but it's worth not throwing them away. You might have thrown away $40 or $50. Quoted: The loud stereo thing has been gone here for at least a decade. I very rarely hear a ridiculous loud stereo. View Quote What I miss is a much simpler way of life. My favorite memory is back when I was 12 on a warm summer day in 1983. My Dad had been TDY and was coming home in the afternoon. The chores were done, and in a couple of hours I would have to take a shower so that we could pick him up at the airport. Until then, I could ride my go kart though the fields by my house. No cares. No worries. Its hard for me to believe that 36 years ago. I remember it crystal clear like it was yesterday. |

I think something I miss more than anything is the notion that gun ownership is normal and expected and that there's something wrong with you if you don't recognize this.

View Quote Back in the 80's we HAD to look to the past for better cars. Today, I completely understand why the young guys aren't as into the muscle cars of the early 70's and late 60's. Today for around $10-15k they can buy a used car with 300-400 hp, handles better, is more dependable, and the odometer doesn't rollover at 99,999 miles, because it'll go longer than that without an overhaul. And on top of all that it gets better gas mileage. Cars today are better in every way. While I think most of them can expect at least a couple hundred thousand dependable miles, I think much beyond that, they're disposable. |
