There is a group of people that refused to relinquish their aircraft,  and bought the entire inventory of spare parts.  So there is a still a small and pretty active group of owners.

I heard that distinct sound this past weekend.
Looked up and got to enjoy watching a Starship zoom by.

Nice to know at least 1 is still flying.

The sound on this is completely fake.

Everybody knows that Honda doesn't have synchronizers on that crash box.  There is no sound of double clutching, and the sound has gotta be fake.

I have seen a Starship flying around here a few times also, correct with the distinct sound.
Also, a journalist should be asked what aircraft it was, they always have expert answers.

Theoretically, the design can be more aeronautically efficient.    A traditional horizontal stabilizer is always producing negative lift and drag.

In practice, no one has ever made it pay off.

My boss wanted to buy an Avanti, but I convinced him to go with a more traditional jet.  I would have been happy enough to fly it.  The cabin is very nice, but they didn't have an extensive maintenance network.

Piaggio... Naples (FL) airport or a group of neighbors were/are trying to ban the things because they have a distinct sound.

I would love to have one, they look cool and are fast as hell. I've flown on one, the cockpit view is pretty great, seemed much better than the PC-12.

It’s not nearly in the same class as a PC12.

I've been in the Hondajet a couple times.  It is a nice plane.

I live a few miles from a GA airport. Had a Piaggio go over one evening while I was out for a run. Those things are ridiculously loud.

I'm a sucker for pushers, and she was pretty but I can understand why people complain. If it was based out of my airport it would get old fast.

I see what you did there...

Also there is a flying starship based out of Aspen. Saw it two weeks ago.

There used to be a Starship based at an airport near where I used to work. I saw it often. Aren't all jets pusher planes ?

No.

It would have likely made the list, but the entire crew that was sent to measure it is in the hospital with ruptured eardrums.

Fuck the MU-2. When I worked at an FBO as a fueler I hated having to gas up those pieces of shit.

For about six months, I worked line service at an FBO that operated several of them.  One long body freighter.  A mix of long and short bodied charter planes.  My life sucked for that six months.

Got to see and touch a Starship eons ago at a airshow in Huntsville area.  Pretty cool talking to the crew.

Check out a movie, The Dallas Connection.  Titties, a Starship with interior shots and more titties.  Did I mention titties?

In another life, I worked for a Beech dealer for a while.
I've flown the Starship a few times after they first came out.
I had to chose to get typed in it, or the Beechjet.
S2000 types are pretty rare, BE-400, not so much.
Beech had lots of issues during certification (first composite airplane) and the FAA made them overbuild the wings so much that any advantage/weight savings were lost.
Beech only ordered 50 sets of engines and avionics for the production run of the Starship.
It did nothing the BE-300 (Kingair 300/350) couldn't do for less money when you got right down to it and I was already typed in the BE-300.
I saw the writing on the wall and went to Beechjet school.
I remember it as being pretty stable, we used it as a camera platform and operated 2 of them for a while.
I also flew the Cheyenne 400 once when Piper came around to demo one.
Another performing airplane that didn't make it.

I was told those Starships were loud as hell on the inside. The prop noise on either side of the tailcone would reverberate, essentially turning it into a huge speaker, blasting the prop noise throughout the cabin. I've got a family member that was a scientist for Beech Raytheon. The Starship issue became one of his projects. "How to quiet it down". The only thing they could come up with was to add a complete interior active noise reduction system. Tons of little speakers and mics throughout the walls of the cabin, sampling the noise, inverting the sound signature and pumping it back into the cabin. It weighed a bunch, cost about a million dollars, and quieted the Starship down to approximately that of a Kingair. That was it. That killed it. Plus they wanted to sell business jets and the Kingair was alive and well. No need to fuck around with such a problematic plane as the Starship.
