Why not do an environmental study of a nuclear missile hitting South Korea?

I'll bet that would have a bigger environmental impact.

This new guy is screwing over the defense of his country. It's like, Go ahead, kill the squirrels and birds living in those trees. Set up the THAAD.
The enviro study is a cover. They are working something else. Maybe he has an ex-wife/ex-girlfriend that lives in a condo that is in a known NK missile strike target. Not saying its the right thing to do for his country.

The rollout of the US-funded Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense system (Thaad) may be on hold for a year.
Four recently arrived launchers will not be deployed, an official said. Two already installed will stay in place. (snip)
The office of recently-elected president Moon Jae-in said that a comprehensive environmental study of Thaad was needed and that it could take up to a year to complete.
During that time, Thaad's deployment would be frozen as it was not "urgent enough" to bypass the assessment, it said.
Thaad began its rollout earlier this year under South Korea's previous presidential administration, a move which Mr Moon has said was "regrettable".
The suspension comes days after Mr Moon's office accused the defence ministry of withholding information about Thaad from the president.
But hey, what's the worst that could happen?  Good thing there's no "urgency" related to nuclear weapons near South Korea...

What specific Nork threat does THAAD defend her from beyond existing ADA assets?

The new threats from North Korea are longer range missiles. South Korea already faces shorter range stuff, even old school artillery. THAAD way down South does jack and squat to mitigate that threat. It does, however, make it easier to defend US specific targets. Do yourself a favor and plot out the location of the THAAD units, Guam, and Okinawa, relative to each other and North Korea.

Go Trump, win this 4D chess game!

That sounds far-fetched.

Can you provide a quote of arfcommers praising Israel for spying on America and selling data to China?

The Israel praise (worship?) is not because of, but in spite of the transfers of tech to China. If brought up, many, many posters will indeed, though, post about how Israel has to put its needs first.

For any other country, we get derp like this thread, where a bunch of condescending blowhards want to tell Korea we know what's best for them, and to take their medicine and shut up about it. Oh well, they've stopped demanding they pay for it, so I suppose that's an improvement.

Decisions related to the disposition of all U.S. Forces anywhere on the peninsula require mutual agreement. This is not exactly new.

The former Korean administration does us a favor, and quietly allows THAAD emplacement at U.S. request, and takes a lot of heat for it domestically. Koreans, apparently much smarter than many in this thread, could see that it did little to improve defense of the Peninsula, the assets it was primarily focused on being elsewhere, while doing a lot to aggrevate an important trading partner in the region.

Trump, playing 4D chess, makes the THAAD emplacement front page news, acts like it did Korea a favor, and suggests they not only tolerate it but pay for it. This embarrasses the already-embattled Korean president, who had done us a favor, and severely weakens Korean conservatives' political power.

Find the South Koreans with the most promise to contribute to society and bring them to the US.

Then withdraw from there entirely.

Watch entire korea become best korea.

Lisa Ling had her Inside North Korea Nat Geo episode on the other night.    I feel bad for those poor north korean bastards.   If south korea is too stupid to understand that they dont want none of that it is on them.

My korean girlfriend repeatedly talks about how korean men are like over grown children and man childs that seem to be sheltered until their late 30s.

Not being all up to date and knowledgeable about SK's politics but it seems to me they don't want to rock the boat at all.  They like their economy and place in the world right now and if China says Samsung can pound salt or LG sucks balls because of THAAD then they react.

I also think they really don't want to deal with reunification if it were ever to occur.  They're doing just fine without the Norks and like trading with China.  Us being around is useful (and useful to us) and now we're kind of making their neighbor mad.

We need to do what's best for our interests.

Follow the money.  50% of South Korean tourists come from China, and when THAAD was announced, China put a ban on tour groups going there.  China swung a big economic stick, and South Korea backed down.  I expect we're going to see more of China muscling other countries through economic means....

Unless I'm missing something, they've got their semiconductor fabs in SK and USA and their primary panel suppliers are in SK and Taiwan. Only thing ever done in China is packaging, and that can easily be moved somewhere else.
