Quoted: Our '09 GX470 engine looks very different from the '05 LX470 that I looked at recently. I thought they were different. Or, did earlier GX470s have different engines than newer ones? View Quote There are slight differences but they are both a 4.7 2UZ-FE. I think the intakes are different, and the GX is littered with plastic engine bay covers, but it’s the same base motor. |

Wife has a 2019 GX, and is making noise about getting an LX.
Plan is to keep the GX, but when are they going to ruin the LX and ditch the V8? Need to get her in one before they fuck them up. |

Quoted: LMAO!!!!!!! You’ll pay that much for a 100k mile ‘03-09 GX 470. That’s also an odd range of years to pick because the 2013 is a lot different than the refreshed ‘14-15. If you want a 2014+ with 100k you’ll need to change that to low $30s. Sure… In 15-20 years. View Quote You were right a year ago, but the market is changing as we speak. I've been holding out, cash in hand, waiting for a good deal on a used GX460 and have been following prices. Someone locally sold their 2014 GX460 with 78k miles for $25k. It had nice $3,000 lift, new wheels/tires, all maintenance history, garage kept, and was either a one owner or two owner vehicle (can't remember). It sat for a little over two weeks before it sold. GX460's that were listed at $40k plus 6 months ago are now in the mid to low thirties, and I'm talking 2016-2018 models with sub 70K miles. Even those vehicles are sitting on lots 30 days or more now. Many of the ones I've followed recently in the higher thirties have been sitting over 60-90 days. The 2014-2016's that have been listed recently (under 15 days on market) are dipping into the upper twenties now. |

Quoted: That might be possible, but I'd give it a thin chance. In general, the GX is more closely related to the Tacoma and 4Runner while the LX shares underpinnings with the Tundra and Sequoia. The i-FORCE MAX hybrid I4 turbo is rated for 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. I would guess Toyota sees that as a great replacement for the 4.6L V8 with 301 hp and 329 lb-ft. The GX in the US has always been a 4.6 or 4.7 V8 and on 4runner chassis. The LX and Lancruiser shared the same 4.7 as the GX until the LX570 came around. |

Quoted: LX? Last year . . . View Quote Yep, went and looked and saw that. Oh well, maybe with interest rates up she'll stick with what she has. I told her that the whole point of buying a Toyota was that they last forever, and if she was going to want a new car every 4-5 years she could buy just about any brand. I'll stick to my shitboxes. |

View Quote When Humphries replaced Fukuichi as CBO, was a bit concerned - he seemed awful esoteric. But his stylings been solid, more evocative and the GX has the right lines for Luxe Off-road. Fukuichi was a spindle stalwart and really didn't deliver the "brand envy" through his styling he touted often. Was not a fan of the FT-1 or the LF-NX, or his entire styling recast. Suga was the first to voice grille revisions I think, but obviously Humphries has done a great job integrating across divisions as you note. Shit I don't even hate the LBX - we'll never get it but would be cool to see the G16E-GTS in one, |
