The next 2 weeks will be very interesting here in the US. I work in healthcare. Not looking forward to it but am ready for the ride.

How many under 60 in the US have underlying health issues? How many with diabetes and high blood pressure?

Thanks. I’ll provide some updates throughout the week but hospital preparedness went from 0-100 mph the last few days. There was always preparedness but it’s ramping up BIG TIME.

Thing is, you posted it as if it is a surprise or something and that is very disingenuous..  If you are older, or your health is already fucked up, yeah, you are in danger. In other news, water is wet. Same goes for a lot of the fatasses here with bad diabetes and asthma.

I know 70 year olds that are probably healthier than 30 year olds.

Also add that only the really sick are going to a hospital. Probably thousands of people kind of sick, moderately sick that will just stay home and ride it out.

I just posted what their head of health said. We all have ticking time bombs on us but now the ticking just got faster for a lot of people.

My concern is over saturation of our health care systems. It’s going to happen end it’s going to suck. I’ll probably take the cot and a change of clothes/toiletries to work this week.

Saw some numbers comparing us with China. Their smoking rates are more than twice ours, and their air pollution numbers were more than six times worse than ours. Their lungs are a wreck without any extra stress from disease.

Frenchies are in bad health, they smoke like chimneys, and sit around drinking wine all day. No surprise a high percentage of them under 60 don't weather this virus well.

since when did high blood pressure put someone in the higher risk bracket for covid19?

That must be the reason their life expectancy is 79 years for males and 87 for females compared to 76.5 and 81 in US of A.

So, to what do we attribute Germany's low mortality rate?

Germany.
Confirmed: 4,515

How many and who get tested is part of the issue.

Underlying infirmities are another.

This is a serious illness but if your risk factors are low you will probably be fine.

Hardly anybody here in America is getting tested.  They are short on test kits.

I can picture under reporting being a thing as opposed to over reporting.

They are saying early testing helped as well.

I've gone back and forth with this. Because it's also possible that if people get whipped into enough fear of the virus. They will bum rush the hospitals. Thinking the smallest symptom means probable death.

My son works for a large health care system here in Idaho, and was briefed yesterday that we can expect the U.S. to be 7-14 days behind Europe and whatever they're going through.

One can read between the lines between daily updates at the WH level, on down to health systems and see plain as day that this is developing into a no-shit crises.  Additionally, the death rate for COVID-19 is four times that of the flu according to the numbers that his employer is working with.  He fully expects to be working from home starting Monday.

Early & drive through testing. They are doing it. Seems to be helping. Why aren’t we doing that? Oh yeah the CDC fucked up the tests.

You’ll see drive through testing here soon though. A little late but it’s going to happen.
