That would explain it, but with the exception of China's desire to mitigate their position in all this - what would under reporting actually achieve?

I mean we're talking a world wide health emergency...not a bunch of kids playing marbles in the dirt.

The reason they aren’t obese like the US is that they smoking keeps that number down

It should be no surprise the French have lung capacity issues.

My son works for a large health care system here in Idaho, and was briefed yesterday that we can expect the U.S. to be 7-14 days behind Europe and whatever they're going through.

One can read between the lines between daily updates at the WH level, on down to health systems and see plain as day that this is developing into a no-shit crises.  Additionally, the death rate for COVID-19 is four times that of the flu according to the numbers that his employer is working with.  He fully expects to be working from home starting Monday.

Why is it 4 times that of the flu?   Is it because we only have enough test kits to test the most severely sick...bingo!

I working on the front lines today.  I am watching it unfold in front of me.  NOBODY qualifies for a test.

Not sure what your implying.

People can choose to keep making excuses for why X amount of cases are in X country.

In order to even begin to properly prepare for something you kind of have to believe that it’s somewhat capable of happening here. If you don’t believe it can happen, then why bother.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

They also lack work stress.  They get a lot of vacation and don’t work long hours.  Firing someone in France is next to impossible.  Years ago Alcatel was severely fined because people were in the office after 5 PM.  French generally have better diets than we do as well. Portion sizes in the US are really out of whack with the most of the world, thus we have a higher obesity rate.  The French are high for Europe but much, much less than the US.  France was roughly 24% and the US 33.7%.

It's no joke.  His employer is budgeting emergency funds to recall retired nurses and other medical professionals to make up for a shortage in staff for an anticipated surge in patients, and the plan is to turn the parking garages into makeshift triage centers.  From his perspective and from what he knows, the situation is worse than what's being reported.

I was curious about the US recovery rate a few days ago.

The confirmed count went from like 600 to 1300...and the recovered count stayed at 8.

Made me curious why that was.

Now our confirmed infected count is at 2,572 and out recovered count is at 12.

Still wondering....

In today’s world it is impossible to stop the spread. But we can slow it down with preventive measures so supplies and medical facilities can keep up with it. With respirator treatment the most severely affected stand a good chance to survive. But if facilities are hammered with instant overflow then many won’t get the full treatment.
