Many of those pics are cool, minus the ones that have SS faggots in them. I am sure that if you grew up in post WWI Germany you would have been leading the resistance movement against Nazism. Oh thats right your ass would have been on the Ost front with the rest of your kameraden. I'm Jewish. I had many family members murdered by the Nazis. I also had family members who were Warsaw Ghetto fighters and fought back against the Nazis. So actually, I would have been on the front lines fighting them. Nazis were evil. Their cause was evil. They aimed to conquer the world and either enslave or murder anyone who was not like them. This included anyone who did not look, think, act, worship, or have the same lineage as them. Kinda sounds like the enemy we are fighting today. There was nothing just about their cause. There was nothing right about their cause. They brought madness and senseless barbarism to the world that ended in the most costly conflict man has ever witnessed. Were the Soviets just as bad? Sure. Should we have fought them after the war? That's a debate for the historians. The bottom line is this: there was nothing good brought to the world by Nazis. The first half of the 20th Century is a shame that will forever mar the German people. Yes; the German people, not just the Nazis. They knew what was happening. There is no argument against that. They knew what was happening and they allowed it. They allowed themselves to be taken over by madness. They are just as guilty. Today's Germans are not the same people. I do not hold a grudge against them. But, the German's of my grandparent's generation... they brought the world's disdain upon themselves. They cannot and should not be forgiven. This, plus good clean rant! |

This, plus good clean rant! I"m not Jewish but I lost almost all my family on my mom's side due to the Nazis and the Soviets. 12 out of 15 of my mom's aunts and uncles dead (it was a big family) . It really sucked to be Polish/Ukrainian from 1930 to 1950. I guess I get a bit tired of the "I'm Jewish STFU nobody else can talk about the holocaust" nonsense. |

It's interesting that, in general, soldiers are soldiers, regardless of time or place. Thanks for posting the pics

I can say one good thing about the Nazis… the sure killed a lot of commies.
And I can say two good things about the commies… They killed a lot of Nazis and they also killed a lot of commies. |

Even as evil as the Nazi's were, they were still human. Weird to see them humanized.

The Ruthenians were pretty much getting the short-end of the Russo-German stick all the way back in the 1800s - a goodly number of Ruthenians emigrated over here after one or two failed revolutions in the 1840s. |

The lesson from the pictures is that grunts are grunts the world over and bored soldiers have been doing goofy shit because they were glad to be alive ever since there were soldiers. That is what troops do...have shennanigans when they are on their down time. |

Soldiers are soldiers.... They are alike no matter which flag they fly. They fight for each other whether you believe it or not. Nothing more, nothing less. The assholes are the idiots giving them orders. Yep. I remember reading BoB, the guys were somewhat taken aback when they realized that of all the people they came into contact with during the war, they had the most in common with the Germans. |

My Great Grandmother put Ruthenian on the Ellis Island roster. He came over a little later and put Polish. According to my family, they spoke Polish predominately. Both the Poles and Ukrainians claim Ruthenians are nothing but Poles or Ukrainians. She was probably Ukrainian/Ruthenian because she spoke of being related to Cossacks and such from what I hear, and he was Polish. The whole thing is so damn convoluted. They came over in 1905. They died before I was born. I wish I knew more about it, but my family is spread out and not very close. |

I have my gramps old photo album from WWII in Europe, theres some funny pics in there, I may have to get a scanner and scan them one day. I recall a series of his pics where a GI dressed up like a Nazi and they all pretended to bayonet him.

We also claim some cossack blood. Grandfather came over in the late 20's but everyone else stayed in the old country. He brought one surviving brother and one sister over after the war. The sister had been in Sobibor and had the arm tatoo. She died in the 1970's. She hated cops but loved the US Army. Go figure. |

First, some great pictures there. Wonder what they were up to in some of them.
Second, remember that not all Nazis were German, and not all Germans were Nazis. Hitler for example was Austrian, he was fucking Austrian! Third, they killed an awful lot of communist pigs, so be thankful for that. As bad as the Nazis were (10-15 million deaths due to the holocaust), Stalin is beleived to have killed between as 'few' as 20 million to as many as 60 million people. Nice guy, huh? You just never hear about it for some reason...Oh wait, because FDR sided with him... Now don't get me wrong, I'd shoot Hitler in the face with a shotgun if you gave me the chance, but I'd shoot Stalin first...And then Uncle Ho, Mao See Dung, and so on. Also, the invasion of France was probably a good thing too...It's France, people...C'mon... |
