I LOVE the Hungaroring. LOVE it. It's small and fast and uses the natural geography...but this was boring.

Still, Lewis takes the win, takes the championship lead, and becomes the Hungaroking. Rosberg is again his bitch.

Verstappen really seems to be the Pirelli whisperer.

HAM being classy and saying, "thanks for moving over, old chap."

Ricciardo tells Rosberg he's "#1"

Indeed. And you had to love the international camera feed focusing on Kimi and Max, while completely ignoring the racing between Seb and Daniel. This whole thing is getting so lame.

Even a cameraman got so bored he started doing the same annoying shot through the guardrail over and over again.

Yeah, that was pretty good. Almost take Kimi's nose off swerving around and then get on the radio complaining about Kimi's driving. Just when you start to forget Max is just a kid he reminds you with something stupid just how young he is.

Rosberg is never going to win the driver's championship. He just doesn't have what it takes. I watched a guy drive around on Sunday, who was content to be in second place. He certainly wasn't trying to pass Hamilton since the pit wall told Hamilton to get the lead out and quit driving slow. Not to mention his statement about the Hungaroring being impossible to pass on. Didn't seem to slow the others who were making passes. Hard to believe Merc re-signed him for two more years, but I guess they figured finding someone else as content to be Hamilton's bitch would be hard to do.

Max will just keep blocking because he'll never get punished for it. How many times did he do that to Ros on the back straight of Silverstone? Eventually he's going to get clipped, get a flat, and cry about it. On one hand it's annoying he drives like a tool, but on the other he's getting away with it and finishing among the best so who's to blame him?

Bernies mother in law has been kidnapped

GD threadhttp://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1892447_BREAKING___MIL_of_F1_boss_Bernie_Ecclestone_kidnapped_in_Sao_Paolo___36_5M_ransom_demanded.html

The mother-in-law of Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has been kidnapped in Brazil with criminals demanding a ransom of $36.5m (£28m), reports say.

Aparecida Schunck, the 67-year-old mother of Mr Ecclestone's wife Fabiana Flosi, was seized in Sao Paulo on Friday night, Veja and Globo reported.

The kidnappers have demanded the ransom, a record amount for an abduction in Brazil, be paid in pounds sterling and divided into four bags of cash, Veja reported.

Hahahaha, like any man would pay for his mother in law to come back, Bernie probably hired em!

James Allison out at Ferrari

http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/allison-and-ferrari-part-ways-with-immediate-effect-802624/

Ferrari has split with its technical director James Allison, following weeks of speculation about his future.

The Briton's place at the team had been in doubt after a disappointing start to the campaign, but the team had previously insisted that the talk were just rumours.

However, on Wednesday, it announced that Allison's three-year spell at the outfit was coming to an end. His contract ran until the end of 2017.

In a short statement, it was made clear that Allison and the team had agreed with mutual consent to end their working relationship early.

Team principal Maurizio Arrivabene said: “The team would like to thank James for his commitment and sacrifice during the time spent together, and wishes him success and serenity for his future endeavours."

Allison himself added: “During the years I spent at Ferrari, at two different stages and covering different roles, I could get to know and appreciate the value of the team and of the people, women and men, which are part of it.

"I want to thank them all for the great professional and human experience we shared. I wish everybody a happy future with lots of success."

As well as the on-track struggles, Allison has faced personal tragedy this year with the death of his wife immediately after the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

That has left him wanting to spend more time back in the United Kingdom to be near his children, and it had previously been suggested that he was eager for a full-time return to Britain as soon as possible.

His talents will make him an obvious target for a number of teams, and the chief contender to land him could be Renault – where Allison most recently worked prior to his time at Ferrari.

Allison will be replaced with Mattia Binotto, who will take on the role of Chief Technical Officer at Scuderia Ferrari after moving across from the engine department.

Binotto originally joined Ferrari in 1995, originally as a test engine engineer – and then performed a similar role for the race team from 1997 to 2003.

After a spell as a race engine engineer, and chief engineer, he became head of engine and KERS in 2009 – before stepping up to chief operating officer of the power unit at the end of 2014.

The thing that killed Ferrari is the testing ban.  Once that happened, they could no longer turn countless laps on the Fiorano track, and let's face it, without the testing to back it up, their engineering department is just shit... they cannot properly model something on a computer, and they've had problems with their wind tunnel since I can remember.

Guys... Tell me if I'm off base here.

I just don't get the Verstappen love.  I mean, it's on record that I think his father is a douche extraordinaire, but I've TRIED to give the kid a chance.

That said, he drives like a dick, he isn't THAT good, and he's a dick out of the car.  Yes he has had a few good passes and he won a race... so did Maldanado, and we all know how we felt about him.

Why is this kid so popular... is it because the backwards hat, fast and the furious, idiotic young fans love him?

I'm sorry you don't see it but he is a talented driver. Will Buxton article from 2014 about his talent.

Also, if you want to be a winning driver you have to be ruthless and always press the limits of the car and the rules. All of the "greats" drive with their own set of rules, with a beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission attitude. Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Alonso, Vettel, and Hamilton have all driven that way. Senna TALKED about being a dick driver and making the other guy crash and going for any gap or even seam he could find because if he didn't he lost mentally.

You don't have to like a driver as a person to appreciate their ability as a driver.

I agree. I was a skeptical at first but he has shown some real talent that you don't see often. If you pay attention during a drivers first F1 race, a lot of them seem overwhelmed at first, even though they never admit it. The greats aren't, they seem like they've been waiting for a faster car. Max is in the 2nd group.

His blocking Kimi for the end of that race, reminded me of Alonso blocking Michael back at Imola in 2005.

The kid has a natural talent of making his car incredibly wide, his blocking of Nico in Canada was amazing. Blocking of Kimi last race etc. He also got no prep time with a new car, and won his first race with it, and has been damn close since then. The Kid has raw talent, talent that as he is polishing it is going to make him a world champion. As far as his attitude, he's an eighteen year Dutchman...pretty self explanatory. Every Dutchman I have worked with has been about as hard headed as concrete, with the personality of concrete. There is no denying his talents though.

Yeah... Marco is a douche-extraordinaire. I've downed a LOT of Red Bull over the past 10+ years. But I recently quit. More for my health than anything else, but not putting money into his fat wallet would be another positive.

Though I respect his talent, I too think he's a dick and still very immature. I concede that he'll likely be a dominant force in F1 shortly -- which may very well be part of me drifting away from the sport at some point (not to mention the complete YAWNER that the past couple seasons have been).

I doubt he will be dominant unless he is in a dominant car.  There just isn't enough of a skill gap between the best and the worst drivers on the grid (if you discount the pay drivers in backmarkers).  On one hand, this is a good thing, as it means that the young drivers coming in are better than ever, but on the other side, it makes for boring racing, and it's impossible for a driver to rise to the top without a winning car under him.

2017 better be an improvement though or I'm done, this shit is boring, and this is coming from a diehard fan that has been watching F1 since the early 90's.

Yup. I've only been into F1 since the 2000s, but I've also been a diehard fan. I sold my favorite flamenco guitar, and bought a 70" LCD TV specifically to watch F1 coverage, and the NFL. Both sports have been disappointing me more and more every season... and I always feel guilty about so much wasted time (especially my Sundays). That's prime hobby time for me. So I'm closer to the edge of falling away from watching than ever before. Very disappointing.

And to think, if we're this pissed about it, how mad are the Brits that pay SKY a shit load of money for coverage?

I mean, granted, most of them probably fap to the TV when Lewis is on, but still.

This. Everyone forgets Schumi got excluded in 1997 from the Championship for his style of driving. He never seem too bothered by it.

"I ran into Villanueve? I'm sorry."

Fuck yes. I know not everyone agrees, but I love the strategic aspect of refueling. And hell, bring back V10's! I really think the re-design for next year will be pretty awesome.

I kinda like it too, I mean shit, they wear the damn firesuits for a reason, and it gave a lot more opportunities to the back markers to get an off the wall good result.  Now, for a race to be interesting, monumental fuck ups are required.

And yes, V-10's, no half measures here.  I want to hear a Renault V-10 howling down the long straight in Mexico so bad that I can taste it.

Did anyone hear will buxton say the cheapest ticket for this weekend there was 280 euro. With the exchange that's like 300 buck or more right? Holy fucking christ

You'd think with only about half the seats full it would be a bit cheaper.

Bernie's gotta have MOAR of your dough!!!

Reminds me of all of the new construction mini malls around here that sit half empty for years because the developer wants too much for the monthly lease. Now the SMART thing to do would be to suck businesses in with a low one or two year rate, with the stipulation that the rate would increase after they got their business rolling. But NOOOOO... so much better to just leave your rates so high that people are afraid to take the chance. And hey... empty seats/spaces are always more profitable than filled ones! Errrr... right????

In on qualifying.

I almost feel bad for the commentators, they are pushed to spice it up and make it seem like it is close.
