do you have more anecdotal irrelevant evidence ?

in the meantime here is a video that shows the imepding..

having to steer in the acceleration phase outside of a corner is making me faster (said no racing driver ever)

I saw a lot of comments on sites and I didn’t see anyone who thought it would be a penalty.

A whole bunch of “as a Ferrari fan, I would love to see a Ferrari front row, but that isn’t a penalty”.

in fact I am not. every arfcommer that met me (over 15 over the years) would tell you so. . Next one comes visit me in September. anyway..

i actually appreciate you and your posts generally speaking

Im just telling you that the hearsay of people that are supposedly ferrari fans means nothing compared to what is on the video.

having to steer outside of this corner and not accelerating with your wheel straight as soon as possible WILL make you lose speed and time. it's physics. There is no way around it (no pun intended)

even if it didnt change much, that impeding is a mistake from Verstappen, but really more one from his team that didnt warn him someone on a fast lap was coming (does that remind you someone else recently?). Verstappen should have been on the other side of the track. that mistake resulted in impeding, even if marginally. It's the mistake that dictates the penalty, not the consequences of it.

that they can decide that it was not a mistake is simply ridiculous.

I am not even interested in Verstappen getting the penalty, in fact. he deserves the pole and it wont change anything anyway.

He had some updates this week, right?

His teammate gets them at Silverstone.

Womp womp, Perez and Russell.  If Perez keeps screwing up, I can see them putting in Danny Ric later in the year.  For Russell, so much for challenging Hammy.  He’s becoming the Perez of Mercedes.

Getting tired of these guys whining about track limits in Austria.  You’re either all 4 wheels over or you aren’t.  The white line denotes the track, and it’s your job to stay on the track.  Need to start acting like the highly paid, best drivers in the world you claim to be.

I’m wary when Ferrari qualifies well since there is a high probability they will screw it up.  If not strategy errors, there is the issue of eating tires.  Canada wasn’t bad, but I’m going to need a couple of races to see if they’ve really gotten a handle on tire deg.

Now you know about how I feel about the selective enforcement

more seriously, the arguments of the stewards that i posted makes no sense.

I’m not quite that optimistic.  I don’t think they have the speed to beat Max.  I think everything need to go right for Ferrari and something needs to go wrong for Max for Ferrari to win.  For good or bad, the Sprint race tomorrow is going to preview the Sunday race, so we’ll see what each team’s race pace really is.

I agree with you. its not as bad.

But it still forced Magnussen to alter his trajectory, dont you agree ? Don't you agree that RB should have told Verstappen and that he should have been on the other side of the track to NOT impede ?

anyway, i dont need to convince anyone. facts are facts

Yea, and the Fact is that the stewards did not see any thing that warranted a penalty.

So your conclusion is that the stewards are blind… or that they selectively enforce rules ?

I voted option two , but sometimes I happen to be wrong

What if max was on the right side of the track.....

His lap time still would of been deleted though.

I do agree RB should of told him he was, and he could of been more left or all the way right.

At least he wasn't in the middle of the track like Charles was at Monaco.

Then max and redbull would not have been impeding at all and would have made no mistake.

That Magnussen lap time had been deleted is completely irrelevant to the question, even the stewards admitted so

It really isn’t. The video is truly the best evidence for my argument on the question and it was even fike who provided it. That’s why I didn’t agree with the second part of his argument.

Maybe you think that steering in the acceleration phase out of a corner is beneficial in any way. My experience says otherwise.

I agree though that I should not have answered to him the way have (uncalled for) and this is also why I didn’t blame him for calling me miserable to be around. I deserved it. I am normally truly not.

As for anecdotal evidence, here is a video of Nicola Castglione, who raced with people like Alonso in minor categories, and who also happen to be a Ferrari fan, who is making the exact same points today I was making yesterday.

charles was in the middle of the track because he wasn’t warned that somebody was coming behind him.

Verstappen was very slow on the racing line because nobody warned him somebody was coming behind him.

To me it is clear that the teams more than the drivers committed a mistake.

Teams should be twice more aware of that because of the nature of the track in Monaco, I agree. On the other hand it’s twice easier to make sure it doesn’t happen in the RB ring. So all in all, in my opinion the same type of mistake wasn’t penalized the same

But I see that we agree on principle.

Like clockwork, here comes the penalty for leclerc !

Impeding on piastri in q1 because his team did not warn him and he was on the racing line while going to the pitlane…

kinda reminds me of something somehow…

So what is the difference exactly ? One impeded more than the other ? Oh I see. All animals impede, but some animals impede more than others

Ahaha its good stuff
