Quoted: F1 has been very quiet about PU upgrades over the last year, but all the producers have to sign off on any change. I.E., it’s an open secret on what everyone is doing. That said, Renault/Alpine head of PU’s Bruno Famin has been making noise recently and even mentioned that there were up to 70 submitted change requests last year. Going forward, he expects it to get significantly harder to make changes (which could be as easy as Renault vetoing the requests). I think the key for Ferrari is whether they can get their engine back up to the power level it had at the beginning of the 2022 season. It’s pretty clear that in the second part of the season they had to drop the engine output for reliability. If they can get back to full power and be reliable, they could be a real contender. Assuming the other engine builders haven't picked up some power. Frozen is a relative term. True, but getting back at least to where they were is a start. If they can’t even get back there, they’re done. F1 has been very quiet about PU upgrades over the last year, but all the producers have to sign off on any change. I would bet they put the exhaust in a low pressure area, but if you can get the pressure lower... |

Quoted: Maybe the cornering speed for the hairpin is so slow that the engine will stall in first (or anti-stall will kick in), Minimum revs on a F1 car are a lot higher than on a road car. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I don't know if this video has been posted or discussed here before, but I'm just seeing it. Basically just Max doing a lap of Monaco on a simulator, but what I found interesting, if you skip to about 0:30s, he drops it into N for the hairpin. Is this typical? Do all drivers do this? I would have thought they'd keep it in 1st. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0g5mgabHXs Maybe the cornering speed for the hairpin is so slow that the engine will stall in first (or anti-stall will kick in), Minimum revs on a F1 car are a lot higher than on a road car. This is what I was thinking too. I don't know about the 1.6l, but the 2.5l V8s had an idle of like 4,000-4,500 rpm. The only other thing I can think of is maybe it's transmission related? The car is turning so tight that the rotation/speed delta of the two rear tires is something the trans doesn't like? Interesting stuff. I'd like to know the actual reason. |

Quoted: The nepotism in F1 has always been ...lame. Worse than pay drivers, by far. m View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Mich is now also a reserve driver for Mclaren through an agreement with Merc. m I’d disagree on the nepotism being worse than pay drivers. Damon, Jacques, Nico, and Max all have driver titles. Those that sucked were sent packing rather quickly (Senna, Piquet, Mick). Some had good careers (Ralph Schumacher). Magnussen is a bit of an anomaly, but his career has been a wrong place, wrong time, right place, wrong time saga. I can name the above off the top of my head, but the pay drivers would require an Excel sheet. F1 has had to add rules and requirements in response to that long standing train wreck. The late 80’s and early 90’s saw seasons with 40+ drivers participating (many for only one race). |

All a bit funny that we now have an American driver, an American owned team, and now an American manufacturer joining F1.
Andretti who? |
|

that IS HUGE!
I think Honda is in as well. DTS is the genesis for all this. F1s popularity has made it more appealing for other Manufacturers to invest in F1 programs. |

This RB19 launch is boring as fuck
I don’t care about these Red Bull sports clowns Cut the crap Will the RB-19 be white/whitish ? The blonde is easy on the eyes though |

I assume at some point they will bring out, ya know, a CAR?
I get it, celebs and chicks with tits and hats, but holy fuck if there's one day to let the engineers come out and bask in the glory of their creation, this is it. |

LOL I honestly thought the guy drawing on the car in the clip was Sebastian Vettel.

I thought I was being punk'd or perhaps some was trying to get a media hype beast story circulating on the internet for clicks, but nope.
Ford's return to F1 is very much authentic and announced on F1's social media site. Appears they'll be the sole PU provided to Red Bull Racing's 4 car team. I thought it anything if Ford did want to come back, they would saddle up with Haas given their relationship in NASCAR. Redbull was something I definitely did NOT see coming nor Ford. Crazy! |

Oh, look, it's Smilin' Dan the Drivin' Man.
Who I guess is going to be the face of Red Bull since Max has the on-camera personality and charm of a two week old tomato. |
