What's the consensus on the mount and sight for absolute co-witness, if it's possible?

The MFI ultra low profile rail and something like a T2 type micro dot can get you there, but IMO the irons are too busy with the red dot cowitnessed.

It's a relatively short range 9mm.  IMO, the iron sights really are gud enuf and are part of the fun of shooting an MP5.

Unless you need an RDS due to vision issues or for use with passive NV, at which point cowitness isn't desired.

Is there a rear sight with a single notch? I want to retain a peep sight but it would be nice to have a notch also. I don’t want a “castle” sight.

Swap an old Cetme sight onto it.  Looked like a paddle wheel, with different aperatures and one flap was a simple V notch.

Won't go on easily though.  Have to cut off old sight and weld on the new one.

Not as they come, no.  On the full size it's 4 different size apertures.  On the "K" models, it has the castle drum.

The one notch and 3-aperatures was for some of the rifle caliber roller lock guns, and also the OG iron sights for the HK416/417 came with that layout as well.  You should be able to buy one of those drums and change it out if you wanted.

Unfortunate, the elevation is going to be all wrong with a sight calibrated for 7.62 NATO. Oh well.

Order an extra push pin. (Small)

Epoxy it in the front hole(s) of the housing. Then cut the shaft in the center to make a faux push-pin. The epoxy should hold what is left of the spring in place.

Yes, the MKE guns are traditional 2 pin trigger housings, so you don't need to do anything to the front hole to mod those HK91 housings.  Just need to cut off the second hole on the rear.

Thanks.  I'm going to need that for the full size AP5 I ordered this morning.  Nothing wrong with the original housing, but as a lefty, that thumb groove on the wrong side isn't my favorite.

I made the swap on day one, hell I had the new housing here before Atlantic even shipped the gun.

Picked my AP5-P up yesterday. The flash-hider was a chore to remove, turns out one of the pins was through the spring and not in front. The included rail was a PITA to mount, unlike the one I got for my SP5.

I feel like John Snow, I know nothing about HK's and probably should have gotten the full-size one as well instead of the HK SP5, because finding parts to meet 922r is a pain.

I believe you technically could, but I'm not experienced with doing it.  You'd have to cut off the entire exposed metal tang on the rear and the drill new pin holes into it, making sure those are perfectly sized and aligned.  I think there is still metal reinforcement in there where you see the plastic kind or raised, but I'd be worried about getting those new holes just right.

Yes.  I ordered one from HK Parts for my M model, and it was modified from the G3 one above.  Obviously, it would need more work, and you'd have to drill two pin holes.

I think I’m at 1500 or so through both the AP5 and the P models this summer (more on the full size).

No issues with either.

This is what's posted on Franklin Armory's website.  I don't know what the laws are in any of those States though?

Not for civilian sales in CA, CT, DC, DE, FL, HI, IA, MD, NJ, NY, RI, and WA

Well, here's what you law says from what I found on the internet.

790.222 Bump-fire stocks prohibited.—A person may not import into this state or transfer, distribute, sell, keep for sale, offer for sale, possess, or give to another person a bump-fire stock. A person who violates this section commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. As used in this section, the term “bump-fire stock” means a conversion kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device used to alter the rate of fire of a firearm to mimic automatic weapon fire or which is used to increase the rate of fire to a faster rate than is possible for a person to fire such semiautomatic firearm unassisted by a kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device.

So far she seems solid as can be. Takedown and reassembly is simple. Can’t wait to try it out. Safety lever is stiff, as others have reported.

Waiting on an A3 type brace from SB Tactical, a selector lever and trigger group housing from Magpul, and a wide tropical forearm from HKParts.

Yeah, I got the AP5-P as well. I already had a SP5 so I have been down the HK rabbit hole looking for 922r compliance parts. I certainly could have bought another AP5 for what I spent for 2 guns worth of 922r US parts.

Of course, now I need another 9mm can to use on the AP5-P.

I know people here have said negative things about them, but I have had excellent service out of the second generation KCI magazines. Every one of them has run flawlessly suppressed or unsuppressed. I generally reserve them for when I'm at the range but so far they have ran perfectly.

In for a few to test.

I like to have at least a dozen mags loaded up for my akv before I get to the range but those are pretty cheap to aquire. Obviously reliability is the most important factor but $50 for off brand and $70 for hk is too steep to drop almost a K on mags for a budget gun ATM.

The rabbit hole to my eventual excuse to get the sp5 I guess

Also anyone try magpul drums for these or any mp5 type yet? If they are out that is.

I have 30 mags right now. 20 H&K magazines, four MEK magazines and the rest are KCI. And one Magpul drum.

I've run a couple of the used H&K magazines, the MEK magazines and about half of the KCI magazines. All of them have run 100%. The Magpul drum has run 100% as well
