The stats support your opinion.

ESPN has him at TE #10 by yardage, and he's #65 of all WR/TEs.

The RTM project puts him at TE #15 with an overall score of 45. He has an open score of 64 (pretty good), a catch score of 38 (crap), and a YAC score of 32 (also crap).

For context, Kittle and Kelce both have overall scores in the 70s, and Andrews, Goedert, Njoku, and a guy named Jordan Akins have scores in the 60s.

Here you go, HK:

That's certainly encouraging.

Still though, even if that wasn't the case I still wouldn't want to sign Dalton Schultz.  I'd much rather have a serviceable TE making peanuts hungry for a new contract than have an above average-good TE you just made one of the three highest paid TEs in the NFL.

Sure, but I think there are two big caveats here:

1) Depending upon which numbers you look at (guarantees vs fluff etc), most of the good TEs aren't very far apart in pay. If you cut the fluff, most are within $3M or so.

2) TEs are a LOT cheaper than WRs now. With last year's WR market, this years FA class, and this year's draft class, I think some teams are going to be looking at TE as an opportunity to save money vs paying for a guy like Woods or Agholor.

I could be mis-reading this, but we'll see.

Personally I've just never been a big Dalton Schultz fan.  I don't dislike him, but I do think he's overrated.  I suspect people having an inflated opinion of him is mostly due to him having a big game every once in a while which seem to usually come in nationally televised games.

And yet Spotrac's estimates his contract will be 4 years/$60.6M (I didn't see the guaranteed amount) which would be #2 in the NFL for TEs in terms of total value.

Some team will probably be dumb enough to give him that (or close to it).  Hopefully it's not the Cowboys.

An above average (ish) CB that’s on a downward career trajectory, is scheduled to make $17M next season, and acts like a diva?

I wouldn’t want that contract for free.

I liked the parts when Dak would hit him on the hands with the ball, and he would bat it straight up into the air. Then it would be intercepted.

Stanley Kubrick filmed the moon landing.

He is such a stickler for accuracy that he insisted upon filming it on location.

Lately? He was rough most of the season.

I'm pretty sure he quit watching football film and went to the Joe Buck School of Gargling Star Athlete Balls.

A lot of people think Greg Olsen was the best color commentator this season, and I don't disagree. Brady is taking his job in 2024. If Olsen repeats his performance in '23, he should probably change networks.

That Brady/Fox contract is one of the most fascinating in the history of sports.  A 10 year/$375M contract for something the person has never done before and no one knows if he'll even be average at it.  Imagine if he sucks.

I'm NOT saying Brady will be bad, but I will say that throughout their playing careers and watching how they interact with the media guys like Manning and Romo stood out to me as players that would probably make for good color commentators.  Brady doesn't give off that vibe.  At least not to me.

I'm in the Camp that Olsen is really good, and doesn't take away from the game.

Brady's deal is something else. If he calls 20 games, that's 1.8M per game. To add color to a football game for 3 hours. Oh yeah, travel. Sounds miserable.

Romo literally called Allen's pass overthrown 10 yards and out of bounds but a great pass.

It was mocked heavily here, albeit 50 pages back.

And in that same game did Romo trash the opposing QB’s 60+ yard dime that was dropped by claiming the ball was overthrown? No? Then he’s still not as bad as Collinsworth.

Nobody else has been held to the same standard.

Gase and McDaniels both got TWO head coach jobs.

Shanahan got one after 28-3.

Every young coach that had coffee with McVay got a job.

Kingsbury had a losing record with Mahomes in college, and he got a job.

Philly's OC and DC both just got HC jobs immediately after losing the SB.

Some of these hires were poverty franchises doing poverty franchise things, but Bieniemy leaving one of the very best franchises in the NFL for one of the very worst franchises in the NFL for a lateral career move is something I don't think I've ever seen or heard of.

Not a single offensive coordinator who had a very high level coach and quarterback has made it as a head coach in recent history. Adam Gase (OC for Peyton), Josh McDaniels (OC for Brady), Nathaniel Hackett (OC for Rodgers)...

Bieniemy sits behind Reid and Mahomes. What has he SHOWN/PROVEN that will make him different than the guys above? The guys above at least CALLED the plays on offense for those quarterbacks. Bieniemy doesn't even do that in KC.

If he wants a legit head coach offer, he's going to have to bump his resume and the easiest way to do that is to take over the play calling duties somewhere and show some results. Reportedly both the Ravens and Commanders were talking to him with that in mind.

A little bit of Bieniemy’s issue with getting new jobs is his past criminal record (or however you’d like to word it).

Both will certainly go in the top 5 and unless something extreme occurs in the next few weeks then it is highly likely Bryce Young will be the 1st overall pick.

I think the most likely result will be the Texans trading up from #2 to #1 to take Young, and they will pay for it in order to ensure someone like the Colts (#4) don't jump up above them and take him. Then the Bears at #2 will take the top PROSPECT which is Anderson from Bama, they can sure use him.

That then opens up the Cardinals at #3 to potentially trade down for some good value for any team that wants to jump ahead of the Colts (again at #4) to snag Stroud.

Edit: There are also still Richardson and Levis who will likely be 1st rounders. High potential 4 QBs in the 1st round this year.

If I were the Bears, I wouldn't necessarily want to move back 1 spot. I mean they could trade it again, but I'd be looking for volume, not necessarily the highest picks. They already have a QB who has potential but they need the skill guys on both sides of the ball.

If I were the Texans, I wouldn't give up a ton of draft capital for a QB when you already have Mills who is "good enough" for them right now. They need to put a real team around a QB first.

Teams like the Colts, Panthers, etc. should be considering going for the #1 pick because they're much closer to being "A QB away."

During the beginning of Covid19, with lots of time on my hands due to being laid off work,  I spent way more time than I should have, on Facebook, arguing with people on Dallas Cowboys fan pages. Remember at the time, Dak was trying for his big second contract, and that season he played on the tag until he broke his leg.
Anyway, pretty much every black dude said Jerry was racist, and that's why he wouldn't pay Dak. I tried to argue the point that he overpaid Zeke for 2 great seasons, and he was black.
I think Jerry Jones has a lot of faults, but being a racist isn't one of them. In fact, I suspect there isn't a racist owner in the NFL.

Ultimately, no amount of draft capital matters unless you can identify good prospects.
