I ain't never took no FFA class but that don't look like no good farmland IMO

I wonder how fcking lava flow works on crop insurance.

Colombia, Hawaii, the Canaries.. anywhere there's a tropical climate and volcanism, you're going to get good soil and good growing conditions.

Some of said soil may not be usable for a few decades, so choose your policies with care.

"Taking gas and rock fragments samples from a fumarole in the northwestern part of the volcano on the island of La Palma. Various measurements of diffuse flow of CO2 were made, yielding a maximum value of 7000 g / m²d."

I've had the live feed pulled up for the last couple hours. It looks like 3, maybe 4 vents all right around each other. Pretty energetic too. Not as much as last week, but she's still going.

3 earlier today. Down to 2 right now. Side of the cone where the 3rd one still sputters now and then.

Still very energetic. Kind wondering what'd happen if that upslope tube collapses... That breakout last night was interesting. Was surprised to see that the second flow over night took a different track to the ocean.

Amazing how it went from what looked like one massive vent last night back to 3 vents this evening all with nice new retaining walls.

Checked the volcanic tremor plot and the displacement data earlier today. Tremor amplitude has decreased but the mountain's inflation has remained steady over the last few days.

Synopsis: The feeder channel from the upper magma chamber into the vents may have become slightly constricted, raising the pressure in the chamber. You have less material flowing out at times but the magma column is more energetic as a result. Feed rate into the upper chamber looks constant (inflation remaining steady) so if the existing vents begin to constrict, look for additional breakouts.

Saw a tweet earlier, saying there was a serious concern that the lava delta in the ocean was going to collapse, causing a bit of a gas hazard.

Haven't had the time to track down the source tho.

Ok so what are we looking for with this thing? I saw where someone said that if this thing goes it would create serious tsunamis that could devastate the East Coast
Then I saw a post which said that was bullshit. Is this a volcano that has already erupted or it just blowing off some steam? Can it get worst, if so what's the worst case scenario?

Not a geologist but I have popped pimples. Based on this expertise I predict the island will just get bigger for a couple more weeks. Not enough containment for explosion.

Increasing amount of ash in the eruption column. Usually due to more H2O in the magma. Crust is getting melted and erupted.

ETA:

I'm also watching a bulging trend towards the east on the GPS data monitors, along with a slight rise in elevation.

La Palma gets bigger, the Earth gets a little cooler due to the SO2 emissions...global warming is offset, put to bed and all the scaremongers can finally shut the fuck up about it until they find the next moneymaking scamtopic of concern by which to herd the sheep.

That monster is actually a caldera. It collapsed into its own magma chamber during a past event prior to the eruption focus shifting to Cumbre Vieja.

Considered to be extinct at present.

ETA:

I did some research on Caldera de Taburiente and the prevailing line of thought is that its collapse wasn't due to a chamber-emptying event. Rather, landslides and erosion.

Which is actually a good sign as far as the island is concerned, as there's no evidence of large explosive eruptions connected with any of the volcanoes on it.
