What Malkov conversion works in the old SF 870 forend lights?
View Quote

You have choices:

1) Using 2 CR123 or a single 16650 battery (3 to 9vdc input), output is approximately 450 measured Out the Front Lumens:

2) Using only one CR123 (rated for 0.8 to 3.3 volts, and do not use a 4.2 vdc 16340), and output is approximately 320 measured Out the Front Lumens: https://malkoffdevices.com/products/malkoff-mdsffe-1-forend-light-to-fit-surefire

Need to do something with it.

Thanks for the info. I was looking more for a drop in lamp conversion, if possible.

Not 100% sure, but some of the bezel assemblies on the older LED's were not drop in replaceable, unless you were a light surgeon.

My 870 used an Incan P60 lamp. I upgraded to the SF drop in LED lamp assembly when those came out. I think anything compatible with a 6P might work

Yup, I remember using electrical tape to mount a G2 onto the handguards of my M16A2 for MOUT training. So, I could see what the fuck was going on.

We've come a long way baby....

100 Tactical Lumens
Need to find someone to rebuild the factory head as I like the size better than the aftermarket head.

Since that is the same body as a incandescent Millenium M3 Combat light, you can also drop in a Malkoff M91 LED (900+ lumen) with a Malkoff MDM4 SureFire Millennium Adapter kit, in place of the OEM head.

BTW, any of the FM63 through FM67 lens filters made for use on the M951's 1.47" bezel, will also fit on the Malkoff MDM4 adapter bezel (FM63, the IR filter fits, but since the LED doesn't produce any light in the IR part of the spectrum, it basically becomes just a lens cap, which is fine too)

I'm old enough to remember the switch from the big c and D cell mag-lite to the first aluminum body 6P surefire. Every cop I ran into thought it was just shy of which craft. I could have become a surefire distributor had I been able to get the by the box load back then.

The issue was finding the CR123a. There was a single Walmart in the better part of West GA that had them, and even then it was hit or miss. I finally discovered a local camera shop could order them for me.

I bought a Surefire Devestator flashlight (4 123 batteries) new for about $240.00. It was badass at the time.

Maglights in the 1980's.

Edit:
Never mind, I was looking at the wrong adapter on his site.
Gonna follow your advice and get one of those.
Thanks

Yep, unfortunately he's out of adapters.
I'm gonna sign up for email notifications.
Thanks for the pics, those are nice setups!

Oh yeah.. In fact, I just bought an LED upgrade for one of my old 2AA mini mags, and I've been carrying it in my pocket... A bit nostalgic I guess... I'm a total flashlight junkie, and this thread is probably going to cost me money...

I actually regret all the money I spent on the old Surefire with the 123 batteries. I had a Streamlight Scorpion too. I spent a ton on 123 batteries too.

Now I have this little rechargeable flashlight in my shirt pocket that makes them look like shit.

Is there an LED upgrade for the scorpion???

I bought a 9p in 2003 when I started getting into guns. Then I bought an E2D defender. The E2D got upgraded with a nail bender LED module. I think it’s like 125-150 lumens now. Nice an compact tho.

I need to call Surefire about my E1B back up. I think it has a faulty tail cap. Keeps killing batteries. Love the size, but I can’t have battery drainage.
