Jesus Christ that took some balls to attempt that... glad he's ok.

Quoted: Seems like Trooper did not know how to use brakes after truck was on its side right in front of him?!?! View Quote At that speed he was still going to take time to slow down. Just before he connects it looks like there is a drainage ditch on the right side of the road that the truck goes into; as the truck drops down it becomes the ramp for the still moving patrol car. I don't know what they're teaching now but that's faster than I was told you should attempt it except in an extreme situation. I'm sure we've got some driving instructors here who could better answer. Ugh, I can't type today. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Murder charges inbound (sarcasm) In all seriousness, that was pretty fucking stupid. His supervisor gave the order to do it. And? And what? He's been on the job 3-4 years and he's going to tell his supervisor, who presumably has a lot more experience, "no, I won't do it?" |

Not great, not terrible. Trooper needs a couple dozen more practice reps and he'll get the technique down.

I believe that trooper now gets to add that he was part of the aviation unit on his resume.

Well, he hot him stopped...with minor collateral damage.
Bunch of nitpickers in here. |

Could have just as easily launched that cruiser into oncoming traffic and killed an innocent driver. That was an extremely stupid call. Call off the pursuit and find him later geezus.

Trooper saved someone’s life at the risk of his own.
Well done Trooper, you made the right career choice. If he didn’t hit that pole he probably would have died. |

Trooper picked his moment where no on-coming cars were coming. Dam nice job on his part. Well done.

And? And what? He's been on the job 3-4 years and he's going to tell his supervisor, who presumably has a lot more experience, "no, I won't do it?" I would think (even if he had been on the job 3-4 minutes) that he would understand doing a PIT on a high CG truck at (probably) over 100 MPH would be pretty fucking stupid. Not to mention the fact that there is no way he could have seen from the drivers seat if there was any oncoming traffic. Again, I'm not a cop but I damn sure wouldn't try to spin someone at those speeds, especially for running a goddam stop sign. The Supervisor cant see shit from his desk. The Trooper had all of the information necessary at his disposal to use a bit of judgement. He failed. Glad he's OK and glad no innocents were killed. |

Quoted: Seems like Trooper did not know how to use brakes after truck was on its side right in front of him?!?! View Quote The front of the squad car got lifted almost instantly, leaving him with no control. By the time he had 4 tires back on the ground they were on the grass. The whole side/top of a truck digging into the dirt is going to stop much faster than 4 tires. Once they touched I'm not sure he could have done anything to prevent that. |

Quoted: Go look at the 2nd cops dash cam view. They were in the ditch when he left the earth and went into low orbit. Front bumper was well over 30' from where he took off from. Rear bumper was probably at least 15 feet off the ground. |

What’s the other option? Do nothing and driver kills family in head on collision? That’s exactly what some policy is. Because and I quote “well then that would be on them.” Many or in my experience most, supervisors would much rather do nothing and let the perp kill someone than kill a perp and take the heat before hand. Once the perp has killed someone for real then they’ll jump into action but they’re too risk adverse up front that something would go wrong. You see it a lot and it actually gets people killed but the brilliance is you just blame the suspect. Lawyers, insurance agencies, careerists and liberals are all to blame. |

good pit. Ahole pickup driver was driving in the other lane against oncoming traffic. I'd rather he died than some innocent family going the other way.
I have never done a pit, but the videos I've seen, normally the cop car swipes the back edge and immediately drops back, I was surprised to see him carrying with that car and then launch. glad trooper is OK. |

Guy driving into oncoming traffic for no reason but to cause others to wreck and distract resources is what makes me say good pit. Fuck that guy in the truck. He played a stupid game, and he won the Darwin Award as his stupid prize.
