That will be used in training videos for decades; to illustrate why its not a high speed maneuver.
Glad the trooper made it out alive. |

DAmn.
I hope the trooper is OK long term. I can't imagine he won't have some type of long term injury from that. His back is going to be hurting every day of his life I would imagine. |

View Quote No kidding. Dude looks 12, so he has 60+ years of suffering ahead of him. He needed more practice to pull a pit off at high speed like that. |
|
PIT'ing at over 100mph with 2 of your wheels on the grass is not advisable. That was a terrible choice of a place and a speed to PIT.
Kinda surprised they pursued this guy across multiple counties for a traffic violation. |
|
Pretty dumb to put so many lives at risk over running a red light. On both sides.
And the my supervisor authorized it defense, I can’t believe some are trying to justify it like that. |
|
It was perfect. He waited until no oncoming traffic. The shit bag could have killed an entire family. The man is a hero.
|
|
This really isn't a PIT, (outside the trained parameters)' Its a totally justified use of deadly force.

Guy was not killed for running a stop sign. |

Quoted: Correct. I’m just a lowly civilian. Again, Trooper has shitty judgement. He got lucky. View Quote Sure, nobody on the road coming at him right after the guy almost hit several people head on, I guess it sucked some piece of shot felon was hurt though let's shit on the trooper for taking out the trash. |

That was not 30 ft. Also, why try to pit a vehicle that weighs 1000 lbs more than your squad?
|
|
Trooper deserves a beer. If the dumb fuck had stayed in his lane, sure, back off and find later. That shit went out the window when he decided he wanted to involve some innocents.

Maybe the initial stop was a misdemeanor, but I'm willing to bet those speeds are
probably a felony. The big question is, why run from them in the first place? Maybe it doesn't matter now that the guy is deceased. |

|
Truck idiot running in the opposite lane over blind crests proved his threat to society. Officer waited until traffic and area was clear and made a split-second decision. Super ballsy but high chance of success with no collateral injuries. Generally LE is way over the line these days, but this was not one of those times.
|
|
No sympathy from me for the fleeing truck driver, he was putting a lot of innocent people at risk.
Im not a cop and can't speak to technique, but that was brave and from the way that chase was going, probably saved lives. |

I mostly agree with you but that still hasn't a thing to do with your claim that to cops killed this dude simply because he ran a red light. |

130 MPH in a pickup... holy smokes. And the Trooper did a fine job on that telephone pole!

We're only allowed to pit at speeds of 35 MPH or less. And these Explorers love to go up in flames after a wreck. No way I would attempt that.

He barely touched them after the PIT. |

Hopefully the family sues the fuck out of that department and wins...
