If you were going to put on a plate carrier and were going to attach a knife to it, what would the knife look like? I'm shopping. Looking at fixed blades, combat knifes. Pictures please. More interested in the knife, not necessarily knowing how you would mount it to the plate carrier, but would be a plus.

I found a Mora on Amazon that was about the right size and color.
Didn't put much thought into it. |

Another thread came up about this recently...several folks suggested just picking up a gerber strongarm.

Something that has a hard locking kydex sheath. Similar to the Strongarm,

Strictly for shanking a motherfucker? Spartan CQB.
All purpose? Too many to list but ESEE whatever or Cold Steel SRK or whatever you want to spend. |

Me and my immediate family carry SOG SEAL Pups under our left arms.
One of my brothers carries a TDI punch knife horizontally on his chest. 4 of my other brothers carry Cold Steel SRKs under their left arms. Their women carry Cold Steel Tanto Spikes under their left arms. Folding knives/multitools are left to the individual. The goal is to have a basic plate carrier template that anyone can put on and be immediately familiar with. If I put on L's PC or P puts on J's PC, we should be able to operate it without any confusion, getting into it without difficulty and knowing where every piece is located, mags, TQs, knives, etc. |

Get one of these when they're in stock.

My field knife is an ESEE 5, but its kinda big for a plate carrier.
I'd probably go with an ESEE 3 or 4. Their sheaths are fantastic, 1095 is still great steel, and their heat treat is phenomenal. ETA: I also have a Junglas...but again, obviously not for a PC. |

ESEE, Mora or BK&T for a budget buy. Steel isn’t necessarily as important as heat treat and blade geometry, stick to a company that has a rep for doing both correctly. I haven’t had great luck with Gerber, but I still have an old LMF II.
Me? I’d probably carry a SYKCO Dog Soldier 6. But I prefer a folding knife because they don’t take up much real estate. Zero Tolerance 0223<— this is a folder. I’ve also been eyeballing this one from Bastinelli: https://www.bladehq.com/item--Bastinelli-Creations-Montana-Fixed--110304 |

Quoted: 420HC though? It's up to you OP. I'll suggest brands, SOG/Gerber/Kershaw/Benchmade(you'll get made fun of)/cold steel/spyderco/esee/Al mar/ZT/Microtech/cold steel... I can't throw out a specific model though, that's really up to you. If you have a good knife dealer in your AO, I highly suggest rolling in and feeling up a number of blades. There are an infinite number of good knives from a ton of great companies and they'll all service you well. Quoted: I like Mora knives because they're cheap enough that I won't care when I inevitably lose one. |

Quoted: Gerber's not my choice either, but it's pretty good[/i] 420HC steel, and blade steel doesn't matter that much if you sharpen it regularly anyway. I wouldn't recommend chinese potmetal, but there are a ton of serviceable steels, and I'd put gerber's steel in that category. It's up to you OP. Cold Steel SRK, probably one of the cheaper ones in SK5 steel. It will still be indestructible, but easier to sharpen in the field and if you somehow lose it it doesn't matter.
The Cold Steel Drop Forged Hunter would be another solid choice. For a weapon like this it's crazy to spend more than a hundred bucks, and the two I suggested are both less than $50. Hell, the Seals issue the SRK in BUDS, and if it's good enough for them it's probably good enough for you. |

Benchmade is too busy chopping up guns to sell anyone a knife.
