Am I living in bizzaro world where the rest of NATO isn't actively pumping in supplies and weapons? They aren't even hiding it at this point.

Ukraine acquisition of short range defensive arms were previously negotiated when the Ukraine broke away from the former Soviet Union and Russia acknowledged that but reiterated that long range offensive weapons and direct intervention by NATO countries would be considered an act of war.

Again..in or out ?
Risk getting pulled in to it by your own stupid mistakes or fucking step up and go all in. Putin is acting unhinged. Enough to be concerned he might actually do the unthinkable.
Nuclear superpowers poking each other in the eye over a non Allied country is dam risky !

and..with the fucking idiots in office now. It would most likely be a tremendous cluster fuck and get a lot of Americans killed. Killed over 2 fucked up nations with a history.

Unless or until Russia does something so awful we can not ignore it, goes into or after a NATO Member nation. I vote we stay out. Offer support within reason that does not drag us in.
Otherwise we should just go in….so..do we wait to see if Russia fires a nuclear ballistic missile ?
Or expect they will and strike first ?

It is a slippery fucking slope !

OK, not sure if this has been asked or explained.  But why send through a US base in Germany?  Ukraine pilots have to go to Germany to pick up planes, why not just go to Poland and pick them up? Or some other neutral area?

Hopefully the whole thing is a ruse designed to keep the Russians looking away from what's really being done behind the scenes.

The thought that the leaders of NATO countries are so ignorant as to advertise something so blatant as transferring fighter jets to one of the combatants openly while trying to "stay out of it" is terrifying.

I mean Stingers and Javelins are one thing but Dayum, at that point we might as well strafe that column ourselves to be sure it gets done properly.

I mean Hell, if we're going to get into it, (which I really think we shouldn't) then there's no sense being drug in on anybody else's timeline and coming in half-steppin.

If our politicians can't keep us out of this then it really is time for a whole bunch of new politicians.

The plot thickens....

Patriot Missile Batteries Dispatched To Poland Amid Fears Of "Stray" Russian Missiles

A Pentagon statement said: "At the direction of the Secretary of Defense and at the invitation of our Polish allies, General Wolters, Commander of US European Command, has directed US Army Europe and Africa to reposition two Patriot Batteries to Poland," according to United States European Command (EUCOM) spokesman Capt. Adam Miller.

"This defensive deployment is being conducted proactively to counter any potential threat to US and Allied forces and NATO territory," it added, saying the missiles "will in no way support any offensive operations."

"This is a prudent force protection measure that underpins our commitment to Article Five and will in no way support any offensive operations," the statement said. "Every step we take is intended to deter aggression and reassure our allies," it emphasized.

The Army Times describes that US officials have tallied at least 600 missiles fired into Ukraine by Russia:

The Patriot systems, which will remain in Poland, can track and intercept ballistic missiles launched at U.S. forces in the event of an attack. Russia has fired more than 600 missiles into Ukraine, and the Patriot system could also guard against a stray shot if the war creeps closer to Polish borders.

Yep, looks like deal's off:

U.S. says no deal to Poland's offer to transfer Russian-made fighter jets for Ukraine to Ramstein

The U.S. has rejected a surprise offer by NATO ally Poland to transfer its Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jets to a U.S. base in Germany so they can give them to Ukraine's air force.

The U.S. is attempting to rush weapons deliveries to Ukraine. However, defense officials are concerned by the prospect of flying combat aircraft from NATO territory into the war zone.

NATO has avoided, and wishes to continue avoiding, direct conflict with Russia, and President Joe Biden says he will not send U.S. troops into Ukraine to fight, which includes Ukraine's airspace.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said, "We will continue to consult with Poland and our other NATO allies about this issue and the difficult logistical challenges it presents, but we do not believe Poland’s proposal is a tenable one."

Yes, White House has been pushing this idea for many days.

Euro news is saying this is a very well handled middle finger from Poland to the Biden administration.
SoS Blinken and others were saying "Green Light" to planes going to Ukraine without consulting Poland and other former East Bloc countries that actually have them.

Apparently the Biden Admin thought that it was as simple as Ukraine pilots going to Poland and flying them home.
Poland's "offer" to send them to Ramstein was their way of saying they weren't going to take such a huge step on their own. Said that White House staff wasn't listening to voices that pointed out how big of a deal this was until Poland said "Ramstein".

On that part of your comment, "Hey USA, please do the NATO dirty work, again"...on this issue of supplying Ukraine with weapons from and through the NATO nations seems perfectly logical and reasonable to me and probably most others if you can trust any of the major polls.

I think it's a little pussified on the part of the Biden administration not to allow the transfer of the MIGs.  While it may be our base in Germany, it is in Germany.  Most of the NATO nations are already for and/or directly supplying Ukraine with some high tech weapons.

If the U.S. and NATO are "scared" of Putin in the case of supplying weapons to Ukraine, they're already in-for-a-penny-in-for-a-pound.  Poland won't get a pass from Putin just because the jets went to German soil vs. being flown out of Poland by Ukrainian pilots.

I'm for giving Ukraine the MIG's and seeing what they can do with them.  The west is too concerned with "optics", and Putin won't give a shit about optics.  The west should keep its pilots and personnel out of the battle as long as Putin doesn't step over some kind of line that is...how did Biden put it?...not tenable.

War by proxy seems to be such a stupid idea. I know that’s how war gets done in the nuclear era, but it just seems like a colossal waste of time.

People want to be involved, but no one wants to accept the consequences for their actions when shit doesn’t turn out and they have to become responsible for their decisions. This seems to be a very common theme in all avenues of life from governments clear to individuals.

Commit, or don’t. Playing just the tip is fucking stupid. Giving weapons, whatever they may be to people but yet somehow claim plausible deniability seems stupid also. Here’s a brilliant fucking idea, maybe they should’ve left in place the framework for them to guarantee their own defense and prosperity? Shit like personal responsibility, what a fucking concept. It’s almost like having a second amendment discussion. Best defense is self-defense.

Trying to instill American ideals in Ukraine, or any where is an absolute waste of time. The society either wants it, or they don’t. But here we are, somehow trying, still, with how many failures to the count now.

Corrupt societies are corrupt, who knew?

Awkward VP Harris Is In Poland Trying To Smooth Over The MiG Jets For Ukraine Mess

Following the bizarre MiG fighter jets back-and-forth and dust-up between Poland and the US, Vice President Kamala Harris is in Warsaw attempting to clean up the PR mess and possibly damaged relations among allies - ironically an awkward VP is tasked with dealing with an awkward episode. The Pentagon on Tuesday and Wednesday in multiple statements formally rejected Poland's premature and "surprise" offer to hand its MiGs over to the US to be transferred to Ukraine. "The prospect of fighter jets 'at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America' departing from a U.S./NATO base in Germany to fly into airspace that is contested with Russia over Ukraine raises serious concerns for the entire NATO alliance," Pentagon press secretary John Kirby had said earlier.
View Quote

"I want to be very clear. The United States and Poland are united in what we have done and are prepared to help Ukraine and the people of Ukraine, full stop," Harris said at a press conference alongside Polish President Andrzej Duda. Many reports have underscored that the whole MiGs for Ukraine affair had greatly "complicated" Harris' visit, which was for the purpose of acting as an emissary to NATO's 'eastern flank' - though we highly doubt the spectacle of her addressing the embarrassing inter-NATO confusion is striking fear into Putin.

Kamala Harris Laughs Awkwardly During Press Conference with Polish President

Vice President Kamala Harris suffered an embarrassing moment on the international stage on Thursday, during a press conference with the president of Poland in Warsaw.

Each time a question was asked by a reporter, the vice president appeared uncertain who was expected to answer first, even though the question was directed to her.

But after a reporter asked Harris a question about Ukrainian refugees and also a follow-up question to Polish President Andrzej Duda, Harris was surprised when Duda looked at her expectedly to answer first.

“OK,” she said awkwardly, pausing and looking down at her notes.

“A friend in need is a friend indeed,” she continued, bursting into laughter and gesturing to Duda to answer.

Poland Has Made Available All Its MiG-29 Jets For US To Transfer To Ukraine

In the latest major development in what's become a "huge operation" mounted by individual NATO member states to assist Ukraine's military, Poland has announced it is ready to transfer all of its Russian-made MIG-29 jets to the Rammstein Air Base in Germany.

A statement posted Tuesday to its Ministry of Foreign Affairs website indicated the jets will be placed "at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America" which in turn is expected to send them to Ukraine, after President Zelesnky has issued a series of urgent appeals for fighter planes.

"The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultations between the President and the Government, are ready to deploy  immediately and free of charge  all their MIG-29 jets to the Rammstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America," it said.

"Poland is not in a state of war with Russia, but it is not an impartial country, because it supports Ukraine as the victim of aggression. It considers, however, that all military matters must be a decision of Nato as a whole."

Already many NATO nations have been supplying Ukraine with anti-tank and anti-air should fired missiles, but if a large-scale movement to get more fighter jets to Kiev gains momentum, this will certainly mark a huge escalation, and the Kremlin has recently warned it could attack such provocative military supplies coming from the West.

Is this the straw that breaks the camel's back and causes Putin to widen the war to Poland and/or NATO?

Does he have the guts to call this enough to start World War III?

Russia's only option to fight NATO is nuclear. Russia is not a conventional superpower.

I doubt they had very many more pilots than they had fighters at the start of the war.  Bet a good percent of them are KIA/MIA now.

Wonder if NATO volunteers will fly under Ukraine flag incognito.  Russia did it to us in Vietnam and Korea.

One of my pilot friends was shot down in a dogfight in Korea.

The pilot had blonde hair

When they opened up the archives and talked about Russian pilots flying Mig-15s during the Korean War the Russians did a big of bragging that their pilots had a 2-1 kill ratio against allied pilots.

They did some crazy stuff during that war. One story really sticks in my mind of a Russian pilot running back to his base, canopy shot off, chased by an F-86 the whole way. He was coming in for a landing when the Sabre got him.

And that is a problem.

They have played their hand and lost.

The next deal won’t have a conventional option.

My buddy was flying a Mustang against a jet….

Biden 'personally killed Polish jet deal' despite Republican AND Democrats ramping up calls to give Ukraine combat planes to make Putin 'fearful of what WE might do'

'We do not support the transfer of the fighters to the Ukrainian air force at this time and have no desire to see them in our custody either,' the Pentagon said
Press sec John Kirby said the Pentagon had assessed the warplanes would not materially improve Ukraine's defense posture
The Pentagon had stressed that getting the MiG-29 fighter jets from Poland to Ukraine would pose a logistical nightmare
While at first the administration was on board with supporting Poland in getting the jets to Ukraine, the Pentagon feared it would drag NATO into direct conflict
Biden sided with the Pentagon and killed the deal
Lawmakers pushed back on administration's assertion that providing the planes is too escalatory given that US is already offering missiles and other lethal aid

Pretty cool how all echelon‘s of government right now are staffed with check box appointees. No one actually knows how to do their fucking jobs, just incredible…

It reminds me of a series of post-apocalyptic violence porn pulp novels I read decades ago, the “Ashes” series by Johnstone. In one, the pussified pres of the pussy USA is trying to find a clubfoot Pygmy to appoint to some position because the regime hasn’t managed to check that box yet.

I won’t be surprised much when a democommie appoints a, as Weird Al put it, “transsexual Nazi eskimo” to something.

There is so much bullshit packed into that quote. Wow.

I don’t know how much of an impact those jets would have on Ukraine’s defense, but “Any” is more than “None”.

And getting them there isn’t a LoGiStIcAl NiGhTmArE. Political, maybe, but not logistical. They’re jets; jets fly. Holy shit, I just solved the problem. If you don’t want to fly them, take them apart and put them on trucks or in shipping containers, let the Ukrainians put them back together again.

Just when I think that anyone associated with the Turnip Regime can’t get any more stupid and incompetent, they open their stupid cum dumpster again and set a whole new record.
