I confess my ignorance.
Is this good or bad for us?

Reid is (supposedly) pro-gun; or at least not complicit in anti-gun maneuvering.  He's anti- everything else conservative as far as I know, though.

He has a great record on guns according to the NRA but other than that he is completely nuts and a hard hard core lib. With any luck he'll be as rabid about gun rights as he is liberal issues. How much he can go against his own party on gun rights is the real question. Except for gun rights he is extremely partisan but the dems would still probably throw him out if he keeps preventing gun control legislation from reaching the Senate floor.  The dems want gun control really bad, I don't see them letting a party member keep them from getting what they want no matter who it is.

You can put an RLL or RDIAS in any AR. (Not that I buy that it was FA.)

Some are not made for that. Google low shelf vs. high shelf WRT a lower receiver.

Anyways, to the idiot media, even a semi AR is a full auto, spray and pray machine gun, and they will do their best to scare the public into believing that.

The assclowns are arguing about the magazines now. "These assault guns have clips that hold 30-100 rounds. No one should have that much firepower"

Apparently these idiots have no clue what a speed reload is. It doesn't matter if the magazine has 5 rounds or 100 rounds, you practice reloading enough time you will become proficient. The same can be said with traditional hunting rifles or even revolvers, practice enough and you can continue firing with minimal pause.

You too? That would almost be a ood thing from a purely strategic point of view. It's only a matter of time before ATF goes after them. It's an easily vilified accessory, and if the choice was between all semi-autos and high caps, versus the slide fire, I don't want to give up either but the slide fire would be far more preferable to lose.

When the entrance is glass ... yes it can.

This was the substance of every initial report....that they were seen removing an ar-15 from the vehicle.  That he used two hanguns and was buzzed into the principals office/ where an altercation began and someone tripped the speaker......they were interviewing a littlle girl (8) and her father and she said that before any booms, the PA came on and there was cursing and arguig that she knew was wrong.

I'm not being tinfoil, just practical...is it reasonable to assume the first responders broke there wasy in as there was noone to open( buzz) the locked door?

Panic buying won't do you much good if they ban it. You might be able to hide it, but you wont be able to take it to the range. I have what I have, not feeling the need to buy more. I did buy an 870 Tactical after the election, and will buy an XDs. Pump shotguns, and low capacity handguns are probably pretty far down the gun grabbers' list for now. So if anything I am simply positioning myself in case there is a ban.

Apparently, Amok Disorder was classified as a mental disorder in the mid-1800's.  The subject suddenly arms themself, then goes on a rampage in a crowded area, attacking as many people as they can.  Theories on the cause seem to focus on a cultural stigma against suicide (the goal of the rampage being to have someone else kill them, though media reports in recent years may have presented these rampages as a situation where it is OK to kill yourself at the end) and the rampage being some form of desperate act to reestablish a perception that the rampager is someone to be respected or feared.

Point that out to the anti's, then see if they can explain why the gun is at fault, when the disorder was first observed in less technologically advanced cultures where the subject would normally use a dagger or larger blade.

I did buy an 870 Tactical after the election, and will buy an XDs. Pump shotguns, and low capacity handguns are probably pretty far down the gun grabbers' list for now. So if anything I am simply positioning myself in case there is a ban.

Ex post facto laws against certain guns would be unconstitutional

Looks like it's time for another lesson in constitutional law. Ex post facto means they could not pass a law today that says owning a semi-auto rifle is a criminal act and make it effective 180 days ago, thereby creating a bunch of criminals out of people who were obeying the law. Ex post facto means after the fact. Passing a law that says all semi-autos are banned effective 30 days for now is not an ex post facto law since you are given time to comply and avoid criminal penalty. Whether said law would be constitutional on 2nd amendment grounds is completely different then ex pist facto ground.

Deleted Meet The Press from my DVR. Gomer from TX was very good opposite Dick Turban. He said if the principle had a firearm she would not have had to rush the killer bare handed.

Then the fuckstick turned around and agreed with banning ars. Fuck him.

Gomer? No, he said principle should have had an M4! Don't think you heard right.

Keep writing your reps and posting in the comments section of the news stories regarding gun control..the only way we slow the swell is actively push back against it

Lot of smarts right there.

Posting a pro gun view here on Arfcom is like preaching to the choir.  It accomplishes nothing.

In contrast, the "comments section" of the MSM is read by a far wider population, and it includes people who might be convinced by an argument posted.  Think about it.

Posting here, allows sharing information that can then be used in the comments section of the MSM.

Making a comment to the MSM about Constitutional Rights will convince a few, but the emotional reaction crowd will just label you as a "gun nut" and ignore you.

Politely focusing on the idiocy of their proposals, while ignoring any and all information from sources like the NRA, will take the wind out of their sails.

Examples:
1. This nut got the guns by killing the registered owner, then taking her guns.  Registration was already in place and did nothing to prevent him from getting the guns.  How would more strict registration and licensing laws have made any difference?

2. How would new laws make any difference, if the existing laws are rarely enforced, even when criminals are arrested with the evidence in their possession?  Google "Project Exile".  It was a federal program where federal prosecutors in one city were required to fully prosecute each and every gun law violation that came across their desks.  They were no longer allowed to plea bargain, drop the charges as not being worth their time, or reduce the charges.  The drop in violent crime surprised even the proponents of the program.  Why did democrats in Congress fight so hard against even acknowledging that "Project Exile" worked?  Why was it even necessary to have a program that REQUIRED federal prosecutors to do their jobs and prosecute criminals who were caught violating federal gun control laws?

its sad that shit like this is making me want to go buy a large ass case of AR and Glock mags

Haven't seen many post yet about the action members are going to take to fight this, as opposed to generic hand-wringing and statements about stocking up.

I've already sent emails and I will call my FL Congressman & Senators on Monday AM.  I also recommend (and will be contacting) the following:

Sen Min Ldr:  Mitch McConnell
Min Whip:  Jon Kyl
R Conf Chair:  John Thune
R Policy Comm Chair:  John Barrasso

Speaker:  John Boehner
House Maj Ldr:  Eric Cantor
Maj Whip:  Kevin McCarthy
R Conf Chair:  Jeb Hensarling
R Policy Comm Chair:  Tom Price

Only swift, immediate and constant pressure over email and the phone lines will strengthen the backs of Republican (and some Democrat) lawmakers to resist the opportunistic onslaught.

When they bring up the assault weapons ban tell them that Connecticut already had an assault weapons ban in place. Nothing to indicate that this gun was non-compliant, not that having a flash hider or bayonet lug would have made any difference anyway.
