So is a donation to the NRA-ILA advisable here or are they anti black rifle?

Thank you, wasn't sure how to find out how to contact my people. That link helped a bunch. I also used your response & added more. Feel free to use mine as well for pointers, specifically the issue of removing gun free zones.
In light of the tragedy at the school in New-Town, Connecticut I felt the need to express my opinion regarding any future legislation that will undoubtedly be proposed in the coming weeks and months. The cold blooded massacre of innocent children is pure evil at immeasurable levels. There is absolutely no denying that fact, but during such a period of heartache and sadness, quick emotional responses can guide legislation rather than levelheaded logical decision making. Any forms of licensing, registration, permits, and assault weapon bans only further erode our rights as stated in the Constitution.
Perhaps we should also look further into eliminating gun free zones, as the only people without firearms in these areas are law abiding citizens. Michigan has recently been working on removing restrictions & Mississippi currently already has an "enhanced" carry permit that removes most carry restrictions. I would be interested in hearing further on your thoughts of an "enhanced" permit for SC residents, to prevent any horrific tragedies from happening here in SC. I ask you to oppose any new restrictions on the 2nd amendment & even ask you to support expansion of gun rights during this time of great sadness and in the future of your service as my representative. Thank you for your time & service, YOUR NAME Quoted:

There is one answer to radio shows talking about reasonable restrictions. What is reasonable when it comes to defending the president's children? What is reasonable when it comes to defending banks, legislators, mayors, etc? What makes all of them more special than the children who died at Newton? If the answer is "their role makes their children a target," ask how many times the current president's children have been attacked, and how many children were attacked in CT? If the answer is "well the president's children weren't attacked because everyone knows they have so much security," then say "Exactly. And everyone knows Newton had no armed security."

The trend makes me think more and more that open carry is the way to go. Pieces of shit like this won't shoot you first because you have a gun, they'll leave and find someplace else to carry out their plan. |

He went for a location where the lambs were unprotected. It would also fit with the concept that he went to a place where he could control the situation (and others), then took his own life instead of allowing an armed person to arrive and take that control away from him. Another armed person would be a challenge to his 'alpha' position, and rather than crumple and give up that position, he ended things with himself still in control. The news media's efforts in giving these nuts their notoriety, is not helping. |

Perhaps multiple places? There are businesses that allow "rounding up" your total to the next dollar or adding a specified amount, with the extra going to the NRA-ILA. I do it on every order I place with Midway. Keeps the NRA from sending you letters asking for more donations, and keeps the NRA-ILA from showing up on your bank account, if you are concerned about either of those. |

We are so fucked.
Now even FNC is on the gun ban wagon bringing the issue up. Strap in, here it comes. Piss off Chris Wallace. How dare you ask why we need weapons "designed only for the military" |

As I recall, the guns used in Columbine were a pump shotgun (illegally cut the barrel shorter than 18"), a double barreled shotgun (illegally cut the barrels shorter than 18"), a pistol caliber carbine, and a Tec-9. The shotguns were straw purchases made by an 18 year old girl who was supposedly the girlfriend of one of the two. The Tec-9 was an illegal face-to-face sale (the guy knew they were underage) from a guy who was the son of a card carrying member of Handgun Control Inc (after he was arrested, he issued a public statement saying he now realized Mom was right). I don't recall hearing where they got the pistol caliber carbine from. Since there were no AR-15's or AK-47's involved, they focused on the Tec-9 as the gun that caused it all (even though there were reports of the students having been shot with buckshot), and within a few days the news media seemed to have forgotten the reports that besides the shooting, they were also tossing pipebombs into classrooms. |

We need to do something about this fetishistic focus on the weapon. All people are hearing out there is how terrible the gun is. The gun this, the gun that.

I have emailed my representatives. I am saddened by these events, but they are the acts of 1 man/child, not an inanimate object. We are a nation of roughly 300,000,000 people. We are very fortunate things like this do not happen more than they do. My heart pours for the families and friends of those that will continued to be affected. However, I do not feel my rights should be stripped based on the actions of a few.

NRA and NRA-ILA are REALLY the same thing, only ILA focuses more on the actual legal battles and NRA proper on lobbing. so at this point, NRA, then later ILA will need more $$ |

Finally something from the mouth of a commie that makes sense.
Morgan Freeman's take on what happened yesterday : "You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why. It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody. CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next. You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news." |

Press conference just confirmed that Bushmaster AR 15 was the primary weapon used. Also a glock 10mm and Sig 9mm.

Quoted: Quoted: I just got off the phone after briefing a GOP consultant on gun laws, he will be doing a TV interview Monday night. Love the guy, but he kept bringing up compromise and reasonable restrictions on magazines. He kept bringing up need. I felt like I was talking to a wall. He asked me to go on the air with him, but my current employer would likely not be keen on their corporate spokesman tearing the gun control lobby to shreds and coming off as not caring about 20 dead children. Oh what I wouldn't give to do that show. I wish you could too. Me too. I have yet to hear any "gun expert" information that wasn't completely asinine.

We know that some sort anti gun bill is coming. If it passes or not is anyones guess right now. What is more likely to happen, will the gun grabbers go for the whole enchilada and try to ban all guns or just try for what has the greatest chance of success?

One of my now deceased Vietnam vet friends told me that he saw evil after the Tet offensive - there was cash paid out to assassinate those suspected of helping the north.
Evil showed it's ugly head and stuck it's hand out. Evil is different than deranged. "Yeah, but you still owe me for killing all three of the kids too." ML |
