My ANG unit flew these before they switched to A-10s.  A tweet is about the size of a VW Bug, but with a gatling gun and a whole bunch of hardpoints!

They would also turn the top turret forward and use up to 14 toward firing 50’s I’d equipped with the four blister mounted 50’s.

@s707bw

Close enough! That B-52 used to be on display at Kirtland AFB, but now it’s at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History right outside Kirtland. This photo was taken in 2016 when the plane was dedicated.

I did an op at Kerup Flyvastation (spelling?) in ‘86 and they would launch an alert drill every day and one of those would tear-ass all around for awhile and put on a great show.

Not painted like that though.

Always loved the A-4 Skyhawk, probably because that’s what the Blue Angels flew when I first saw them. Plus the F-14 because “Top Gun”. Hard not to love the SR-71. Or the P-40 Warhawk. Dang this is hard.

4 pages and nobody posted a pic of the greatest American war machine ever built.   The US could have produced nothing but P-47 fighters for the entire war and would have done just fine.  The real reason the US went with the P-51 was cost, not performance.

@EmptySmile.

Based out of Offutt, Mildenhall or Okinawa? I was electro/environmental with the 95th Recon at Mildenhall from roughly 1990 to 1999. We were actually an EC-135 unit at the outset, but the good lord saw fit to send those dogs to the Bone Yard a year or two after I got there.

I have huge respect for both the Rivet Joint program and the crews. I don't think they'll ever get the credit they deserve for their role in ending the Cold War, among many, many other accomplishments.

BTW, if my first two choices (T-33 and the Mig-17) aren't available I'll take a B-47 all day long (Even with the issues they had).

Great sequence from the old 1950's Jimmy Stewart movie "Strategic Air Command".  There's some beautiful footage of them starting around 4:00.

About that nothing has been able to shoot one down statement. You shouldn't have picked a picture of an F-15E. Two E models were shot down during Desert Storm by AA/SAMs.

Needed an A-D model picture with the the statement about no air-to-air losses.

P-38 Lightning, the plane that killed Yamamoto (Admiral of Japanese Navy during attack on Pearl Harbor)

Was a pure beast for it's era. Focused on guns and speed.

@2A373

Fantastic! I love both of these planes. I work at a manufacturing company making structural components for those engines; hot and cold sections. I was (still am) on the development team for both the F119 and F135 engine hot sections.
Still making F100, F135, and just restarted the F119 line..

Thank you for your service

I can't pick just one.    I'll pick a few not yet represented yet.

Fokker DVII if only for the lozenge camo pattern...

Early post-WWI - P-26, if only for the cool paint schemes

Early WWII - P-40 Warhawk

WWII - there are many choices, but this one hasn't shown up yet - Messerschmitt Bf/ME-109.  Over 35,000 airframes produced from 1936-1945.
