That B-52 used to be on display at Kirtland AFB, but now it’s at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History right outside Kirtland. because it's awesome looking, and because of that airspeed story |

Always loved the A-4 Skyhawk, probably because that’s what the Blue Angels flew when I first saw them. Plus the F-14 because “Top Gun”. Hard not to love the SR-71. Or the P-40 Warhawk. Dang this is hard.

Quoted: Didn’t expect to see an RC-135 on here. I was a crew chief on one back in the 90’s. View Quote @EmptySmile. Based out of Offutt, Mildenhall or Okinawa? I was electro/environmental with the 95th Recon at Mildenhall from roughly 1990 to 1999. We were actually an EC-135 unit at the outset, but the good lord saw fit to send those dogs to the Bone Yard a year or two after I got there. I have huge respect for both the Rivet Joint program and the crews. I don't think they'll ever get the credit they deserve for their role in ending the Cold War, among many, many other accomplishments. |

BTW, if my first two choices (T-33 and the Mig-17) aren't available I'll take a B-47 all day long (Even with the issues they had).
Great sequence from the old 1950's Jimmy Stewart movie "Strategic Air Command". There's some beautiful footage of them starting around 4:00. The B-47 and Jimmy Stewart "Strategic Air Command" |
