Biden to unveil 6 executive orders to curb gun violence, nominate a permanent ATF director The president also is expected to announce his nomination of David Chipman as the director of the Justice Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Chipman is an ATF veteran who currently serves as an adviser for the gun control advocacy group named for former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., who survived a 2011 mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona. The first action will direct the Department of Justice to propose a rule within 30 days to stop the proliferation of so-called "ghost guns," or makeshift weapons that can be constructed at home or that lack a serial number, according to a senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the actions ahead of the president's announcement. The official declined to say whether that meant the Justice Department would classify "ghost guns" as firearms. View Quote |

If you're expecting the rifles to come down over gun control, you're probably setting yourself up for disappointment. There might be 'marches' and 'rallies' if the 2nd Amendment was repealed, but there aren't too many people willing to fight to the death over any the loss of any (and maybe even all) rights while they are comfortable and not worrying from where the next meal is coming. I'd like to point out that these states maintain a handgun registry, whether formally by law (Maryland Form 77R), or defacto informally "required" (Pennsylvania State Police and PICS):
California New York Maryland Pennsyvlania Connecticut Hawaii New Jersey Washington State DC Michigan Massachusetts These guys know who was buying braced pistols and can easily send out form letters: Attention Mr AROCK, We know you bought FUAROCK Pistol SN 31231, 123112 and 23141. These pistols are only sold in braced AR15 stock configuration. As of {DATE}, they are illegal thanks to Leonid Ilyich Biden's proclaimation. We will turn over our registration records to the ATF in 30 days so that violators of federal law can be prosecuted...blah blah...turn them in Mr Bedeeefostraissse. |

Wait,so Trump was a super 2nd Amendment guy with a 2nd Amendment Coalition to advise him,but somehow took advice from the NRA to ban them, and then kept bringing up and finally banned them, but it wasn't his fault? 4 years, and instead of making some gains to put the dems on defense for once, we took a loss and showed them how it's done (And remember, Trump bragged about him getting it done when obama couldn't). I get tired of nothing being done to slow the attack on the 2nd, and having to suck up losses from every Republican administration as well. |

Here are the six action items.
1. The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of "ghost guns." 2. The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act. 3. The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model "red flag" legislation for states. 4. The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions. 5. The Justice Department will issue an annual report on firearms trafficking. 6. The President will nominate David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2021/04/07/breaking-white-house-releases-initial-executive-gun-control-actions-n2587575 |

My gut says this is a bunch of bullshit cobbled together to get the focus off the border and make it look like Biden is taking some initiative. Maybe some vague measures passed that are so poorly written they’d never pass muster in court and only leave people confused.
I’m honestly more concerned about the building pressure against our FL governor than whatever that somnambulant imbecile in the White House gets coaxed into signing. Not much we can do about EOs. Whatever he says is only an attempt to distract from what’s happening where we live. |

They have to publish a “proposed rule” and accept comments before they adopt the rule. Now, that being said, it may turn out that the “ghost gun” rule is just some nonsense like you can’t sell an 80% lower and a jig together, or that if you buy a P80 kit and a complete slide or slide parts kit in the same order they deem that a purchase of a gun, and the “concealable assault weapons” rule may wind up being the same incoherent and impossible to apply nonsense that they tried to put out as “guidance” about braces a few months ago, but the fact that they are “proposed rules” in and of itself does not make it any less problematic. |

Also, I care not one whit what an illegitimate regime does. Xiden was not validly elected POTUS. Therefore, all actions taken by him (or, really, his puppeteers) are not valid. Neither are any laws he signs.

That guy needs to catch a ban more than anyone on this fucking site. He adds nothing to any thread he posts in and the worst thing about him? All you shits quote him so my ignore of him is moot. |

IF for some reason this crap does stick after going through the courts all you have to do is pull your barrel off. Either put a 16" barrel on or not. Without a barrel it's a rifle. Even if it was sold as a pistol it can be turned into a rifle and the brace can stay. This one is going to be even harder for them then their attempt at banning bump stocks because the brace does nothing. They cant ban them they can only reclassify them as stocks. BUT we have along way to go before we get to that point. Also after seeing how the courts are pushing back on the bumpstock ban people are not going to give up anything so quickly. I see alot of non compliance this time around. What will they do when people make a hard plastic velcro mounted device that sticks to your shirt near your shoulder and happens to have a place to insert your buffer tube? NOT attached to the gun. There are always work arounds for everything.

View Quote They’ll say that an AR platform gun is, ipso facto, always a rifle regardless of whether there is anything attached to the buffer tube or not so that the mere act of putting an upper of <16” on it always makes it an SBR. The text of the actual law isn’t consistent with the idea that there can never be such a thing as a large format pistol, but when has ATF ever let that stop them? |
